And I do believe it will be Monday, to take advantage of the availability of media exposure:

Stoops: Dancing in the streets of Tucson. Season ticket sales soar. Cancellation of visits by 5 star recruits to other campuses and inquiry into how many scholarships AZ has left.

Chow: Cancellation of several thousand season ticket holders. Disappointment among players and recruits. Withdrawal of millions $$ from boosters. Withdrawal of all current committs.

Hunley: Relief from BCA, pressure from Jesse Jackson to hire more black coaches in Div 1 and Pros. Mild interest in ticket sales. An "I told you so" from former coach Smith.

Lynn: Hanging of Jim Livengood in effigy on campus. Riots on 4th avenue. Student protests and demand of resignation of Likens.

While you may well be right, Irish, a Saturday during a 4-day holiday might not be the best timing for primo media exposure. Competition from other games, holiday shopping (it's the biggest shopping weekend of the year) and such. Slow news day otherwise (unless Yosemite Dubya ends the war).

People heading back home to wherever on Sunday.

On Monday it becomes the biggest news around, at least in TOOcson, where the season tix are purchased. Not TWO mention the opportunities for catchy sound bites by the media PoohBahs.

Sample: How about "Livengood makes good, meets target date." .... ? or, "December 1 is Livengood's charm, but new Arizona coach steals the show, wows fans"

Agree with you. Except THIS fan would be just as unhappy with Hunley as I would be with Chow or Lynn. This is Stoops or Bust. Period. If Stoops isn't hired, the whole search process failed. I find it hard to believe that the search committee couldn't come up with a better list of names behind Stoops.

Maybe we should administer the Athletic Department by mob rule?

(pssssst. shhhhhh. Livengood, though intermediaries, made the intital contact with Mike Stoops to begin with.)

But let's just imagine, for discussion purposes, that MS demanded clear title to the Student Union building as partial compensation.

Let's say the negotiations came to an impasse because Arizona refused.

Conclusion: the whole search process failed. :p

Effigy hangings follow soon thereafter when the peasants take to the streets, looting and pillaging 4th avenue quaff 'n pee joints. :rolleyes:
