I looked on the Arizona Equipment blog and it appears we may be switching back to the Desert Swarm era helmets. Look at the bottom of the picture and you'll see the red, white and blue stripes on the white helmets.

Has there been an uniform change we didn't see here weeks or months in advance?

AWESOME!!! This was one of the best helmets in college football, right up there with texas, michigan, ND, & UMiami.

Well, I'm gonna wait til that gets confirmed... Because my guess, is that if those helmets are brought back, they won't be worn every game. Maybe just once in a while, like the all-white helmets.

Wouldnt mind switching back and forth. I Like the navy, can't put my finger on it, but, there is something wrong with them! Some suggest a bigger Block "A".

I think they have a dull look, need to be more sparkly, a flashy metallic, or perhaps a different shade of navy. Why shouldnt we have a rotation of helmets? Fun for the players.

I thought the navy blue ones were pretty bad-ass when UA first started wearing them several years ago.. I still like them. But, I miss the old ones as well. Now that I think about it though, if those old white ones are even worn, I know for sure they won't be worn much at all. The reason is this- we're getting new unis. And, from what I've seen and heard, there will be no piping on the jerseys anymore. However, there will be a "tiger" stripe on the pants. Well, a tiger stripe on the pants, does not match the old white helmets with the striaght/plain stipes. It's like half old school/half new school look... just wouldn't go together.

Honestly I'm fine with either look, I like the navy blue, the whites looked awesome (imo)too bad we lost big in them(but that's old news I'm over that already), desert swarm white helmets with the block-A blue & red stripes was by far the cleanest refined look we've had (not to mention the most success we had, we actually won the holiday bowl with that helmet style).

Any combination would be great with me but It would be awesome if they'd bring back out the desert swarm helmets- maybe catch a lil positive juju this season.

Either way what ever colors we wear I'm not too particular about helmet color I just want to see our gatos whup some PAC-16 a** (oops, did I say that too early?lol) or PAC-11, or 12 who cares let's win some games.

It's either 1982 or 1985. The 1983 game was during the day and I'm almost positive the Cats wore their blue home jersey's in 1984. I can't remember why they wore white uniforms in 1982 but I think it was to piss asu off.

That's definitely the '85 game. The '82 uniforms had smaller numbers and shorter tops.

In the 1982 game, ASU came to Tucson in their home jerseys, so Arizona went back into the locker room to change into their roadies. Huge motivation for the team to put away the Scummies 28-18--little did anyone know that that little brain fart by Darryl Rogers was to start The Streak,

No they aren't because the white helmets used in the Holiday Bowl did not have any red or blue stripes down the middle. The helmet was all white except for the A logo.

I always love the white helmets for some reason. When i was in HS and getting recruited by UA they had those, and I just thought the uni's as a whole were pretty sweet. This was back in the Chris McCallister days.

Why Mackovic and Livengood EVER decided on going away from pride stickers or red-and-blue striped helmets is utterly beyond me.

Guess that's what made those guys who they were at Arizona: architects of the Decade of Stripped-Away Tradition.

Thank goodness Stoops and Byrne are starting to get this back for us.

The one word i use
