A 20 year old took some cash a few weeks too soon and will cost his alma mater a lot more money than he received in the long run. Seems pretty cut and dry.

There's a possibility that the rumor was started by an SEC coach...**** always seems to hit the fan during these SEC meetings. He probably did take the money though

SEC is going after each other pretty hard right now:

HOOVER, Ala. -- You want surreal?

As Nick Saban was on the podium here at the SEC media days railing against agents, his star defensive lineman Marcel Dareus was declared ineligble. The Tuscaloosa News reported the news literally while Saban was in the process of calling agents "pimps."

I asked Saban as he came off the podium if the report was true, he got a quizzical look on his face and said, "That's not true." We'll know more as time goes on. The News cited an anonymous source. If Saban didn't know and if the report is true he is going to be a lot madder than he was Wednesday on the podium.

Typically in these cases the player is declared ineligible by the school. The school then works through the NCAA to reinstate him. Don't think that Dareus is necessarily done for the season.

Is there something about that video I don't get? What does it have to do with explaining what the scandal is about. I Googled Pouncey and figured out what the scandal was, but what does this video have to do with it?

TMZ has learned the NCAA wants to talk to Alabama's Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram about a lavish party he attended in Washington, DC -- and whether any NCAA rules were broken.

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/07/nick-saban-alabama-agents/1

Nick Saban's comparison of agents to pimps has drawn return fire from Ralph Cindrich, a respected agent for NFL players. And Cindrich says that if Alabama's coach wants to go toe-to-toe he can make some accusations of his own.

"I don't know that I would disagree with him about some agents as pimps, but all I know is there are coaches who would also fall in that category," Cindrich tells the New York Times. "I would never tolerate nor permit Saban or any other coach to lump me in that category."

And here comes the challenge:

"In terms of him throwing that out there, most agents know what goes on in college programs and what programs are clean or not. You want to find out who has the dirty programs, give immunity and go off the record with agents, and it would be like a cockfight, the last one standing wins. There are ways to determine the truth of allegations out there."

Doug Farrar tweet:

Note to college coaches: Make sure that blaming agents doesn't take time away from going after other schools' kids and jumping contracts.
