Not really. sk8erzombi was saying some are hoping WSU beats ASU and DE gets fired, but not him.

lol best post "Beating UA this year will not be difficult. The only way we lose is if we gift wrap the game. On both sides of the ball, we've got more talent. The big elephant in the room will be turnovers. If we don't hurt ourselves, we win easily. UA hasn't beaten anybody this year. They've not made mistakes and waited for the gift to fall in their laugh. Don't be fooled by their record. They'll be humbled when they finally play a half ass decent FCS team on the road. After tonight, they won't win another game. Mark it down."
hiring Mark Stoops is a close second though

How dare we even suggest letting a storied old coach with an unfortunate disease be cut loose from his hard(ly)-earned golden parachute like some common blue-collar worker?
Erickson is nothing more anymore than the burned-out booze hound cop just waiting for that retirement to roll in. In other words, the late great Richard Widmark at 10:30 of this video:

I want some of what that guy is having ... makes it seem like anything is possible!
On offense these assertions are laughable. UA has a better QB, WR, and OL, and the RBs are about even from a talent level, although Grings and Ant are more experienced. Defense, ASU has better DTs and LBs (but not by much), while UA has better DEs (by a big margin) and Secondary. Key is though, UA is performing better on defense than ASU. UA just throttled UW by 20 more points, also beat Cal instead of losing to them by 33, and beat Iowa, which is more than ASU has done all year.
Or need I remind them that 2 of ASU's 3 wins this year are against FCS teams? Won't win another game? Must be talking about ASU.

But given the option to not even go, or take a 33-0 ass-pounding on national T.V. (you guys set a holiday bowl record in futility, LOL!), i'd take not going.
You can come over and yip all you want about bandwagon fans, but the sCats have more than enough of those already! Oh, and no thanks - you can keep Barney Rubble & his psychotic episodes!
au's mediocre last few seasons won't translate into a Rose Bowl...You guys probably lose 3 more games this year minimum, and probably wither away in your bowl game just like last year. Soon, rats will call for Stoops to be fired, or he'll parlay his recent success into a better job and another au coach will come and go without delivering that rose bowl to the wildc*nts.
And THAT was just from the "Fire Erickson" thread! :lol2:

I always visit that site for a good laugh and meltdown of the temPEE U football. My favorite was a few weeks ago, someone suggested asu had the most talent in the PAC-10. :dirk::erickbud:
Funny how most of them were saying its karma that Nick Foles got hurt, now INThreet is out with a concussion, which would be a blessing in disguise if Stanksafg didn't throw like a girl. It will be a ghost-town in sun devil landfill stadium this weekend as Halloween will come early.

Not that I feel sorry for ASSU fans or anything. It's just a sad situation for a four-year division 1 school to be in, all the way around:
The real problem is we don't have donor support and it has been eroded for years starting with the firing of Kush. We keep paying coaches to leave and the money heads out the door with them.
We are stuck in the real sense of the word. If you don't believe that then ask yourselves why we weren't able to up the ante for Dan Cozzetto. Ask yourself why we weren't able to up the ante to keep Matt Lubick. Why do we have half a staff full of guys who should stiill be grad assistants? Because they're willing to work for less money. And we don't have the money needed to do it the right way.
It's easy to say fire DE and hire a new staff. Much, much harder to write the real checks that go with it.
Yet even after that dose of perspective, minds of morons overwhelm the rare voice of lucidity, exemplified in this giant chunk of BS:
This is largely true (donor support is lacking), but the ASU AD revenue is somewhat respectable (largely due to >50k in attendance average in FB even during this sorry stretch the past 10 years) and is greater than u of eh's. Yet, they have a coach who wins and is able to keep his assistant coaches.
Also, our players have a much better recent record for off the field issues than most schools. There's not a college team out there that doesn't face an off the field issue from time to time. It's just that it's unrealistic to blame any head coach for off the field behavior unless it occurs right in front of him.
Even ASSU fans themselves admit their own fans "know jack about football in general":
I think many are compulsive, ignorant, and widely unrealistic...all the smart fans left in 1998.
too many people on this board are like the girlfriend who gets beat up by a drunk boyfriend on a regular basis, but they always stick by their man even and make up even excuse and greatly over-exaggerate the good things.
They're even starting whole threads on "Mark Stoops for football coach" and now looking for loopholes in Erickson's contract now. The rest are out on a ledge someplace:
Down by 37 points, ball on Cal's 47, 4th and 6, and you punt. Does DE even know the f#$king score?
So basically we've become a mid-major or FCS team looking for a payout in return for getting beat by the big boys.
The reality is that I don't give a crap about GPAs, community work, or feel good stories about single parents bringing their kids up in the Ghettos and how football saved their lives.
They are here to be football players, not Lawyers...This program needs to pull it's head out and stop embarrasing the University, fans and alumni. It needs to do whatever it takes to win. ANYTHING...that you will not be put in jail for.
ASU's football program [isn't] dead but it's certainly very sick and the patient's prognosis certainly isn't good.
If it wasn't for our baseball team, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pac 10 didn't ask us to leave and replaced us with BYU or Air Force.
I am glad we are going to two 6 team divisions. It will sound better to say we are 5th or 6th best, rather than 9th or 10th or even 12th best. I couldn't help but lmao when I heard the announcer brag that we found our replacement for Carpenter in Threet. Like Carpenter was some great QB that would be hard to replace.
I never thought I would see in my lifetime the Sun Devils becoming a complete also-ran in football. Just to think that our future lies in trying to schedule enough patsies each year so we might get to 6-5 and become eligible for some unheard of Bowl in Barstow or Timbuktoo every few years. Makes me want to throw up.
And two separate threads devoted to:
If you could promise me....-----------------------------------------
that a loss to WSU would mean erickson is guaranteed fired, i won't lie, i'd hope for a loss.
This is why I DVR Sun Devil games ---------------------------------
Boy, this program really sucks. 3 straight seasons. What you see is what you get and it ain't going to change.
I have no solutions. I said last year that our window of opportunity slammed shut a long time ago. I was hoping DE could do some magic, but he has only made it worse.
Maybe shutting down the program for awhile will be the best option. We have no money, so we can't expect anything good from the football program. At least, that's what I am hearing from many of you. We are just to bend over and take it because that is what we deserve.
NO football is better than BAD football!!
Vontaze Burfict and Eddie Elder are laughing and dancing on the sidelines while down 40-3, the one decent QB for ASSU has two more INTs than he does TDs, and Erickson tells him at halftime of the Cal game, "Forget about them."
To quote Hitchcock, if it's all so sad, why do I feel like laughing?

You all can stroke UA if you wish but the fact remains that a couple bounces here and there, and they're unranked. And a couple bounces here and there, coupled with decent officiating (thank you Camp Randall) and we're ranked. Football is a game of inches and luck. ASU's been unlucky in many respects this year. And UA has been just lucky enough during an incredibly easy schedule this year. If you want to focus just on the respective teams' overall record, then stroke them all day and night. But I've analyzed both teams, the teams they've played, where the games have been played, how each team performed, and arrived at a conclusion that a.) there is no great talent gap between our teams and b.) no way in hell would UA have a better than 3-4 record if it played ASU's schedule, period. I reference this schedule comparision only to bring some sanity to my ASU brethren and end this absurd contention that UA is so superior. They have a mediocre team, a favorable schedule, and haven't beated a decent team all year (Iowa will prove to be unranked at year's end). We've played two common opponents, beat one on the road, and was a couple plays away from beating another (OSU). For the life of me I can't understand why so many of my fellow Sun Devil fans believe UA is better than Wisconsin, Oregon, Oregon State, and Cal and it would just roll into those games and win. They would lose to WI, they will lose to Oregon, they couldn't even beat unranked OSU AT HOME, and they needed gifts to beat Cal AT HOME! Do any of you think they'd beat Cal in Berkely? If you say "yes," then you're either a troll or completely clueless.

Christ. I want to laugh, but this guy is so incredible I can only shake my head. I'm all for saying what you need to make you feel better when your team is down, but what ever this guy used to determine we'd have nothing better than a 3-4 record is shocking. Plus he said "beated."

it was only Wazzu
Next week against USC is HUGE... While, the win against WSU tonight was respectable, it was expected!
Next four games are big. A win against USC and we need to fill up the stadium against Stanford..
The rest of the season is all about the coaching staff preparing the players and staying focussed.. We competed with Wisconsin and held our own against Oregon for much of the game...
We have the ability to play the role of 'spoiler' for UofA and Stanford... Why not do it???
Weather was great today!! Great day for a WIN!
Go Devils!
:lol2: you just beat the worst team in the FBS now you think the season is saved:lol2:
