Cal has a respectable RPI, and their kenpom ranking is #23, although it would take a hit by losing to Colorado (supposedly 75% chance of victory). Probably not to worse than 26 or so, though.

I just am kind of embarrassed for our conference that a team that was getting boatraced in the Big 12 just a year ago now has a chance to win the Pac-12 tournament championship.

Pull your head out mod. Colorado went 24-13 and 8-8 in the Big 12 last year. Much tougher conference. I take it you don't go to many boat races.

Interesting too, I think they mentioned that Colorado lost 60% of its scoring from last year to the NBA. But they also showed that Tad Boyle's W/L record over the last two years is much improved over the previous two years.

It's the rest of the conference that should've put up more of a fight. That 8-8 Big 12 team just beat the preseason Pac-12 favorite by double digits.

EDIT: BTW, I had totally forgotten that Colorado had blown out Cal by 17 in last year's NIT second round. So there's precedent for the Bears. No idea what Oregon's excuse was for laying down last night, though.

Not that the Pac-12 is a good conference either, but I think the teams' level of play has improved across the board, it's just that there weren't any more OOC games to prove it to the rest of the country.

All the "Pac-12 is a one-bid league!!!" talk is apocryphal BS. Pac-12 will get at least 2 bids, Cal to me is a lock, and the winner tomorrow. Hard to think the committee would leave home the Pac-12 Regular Season Champ, but UW is squarely on the bubble, and depending how many bids get stolen (Marshall in CUSA, St. Bon/UMass in A-10, NC State in ACC, Ole Miss in SEC, UCSB in the Big West, Louisiana Tech in the WAC), may make that ignominious history as the 1st power conference regular season champ to miss the NCAAs.

I also think the Pac-12 will be a much better league next year. Oregon, Colorado, ntOSU, Stanford should all be improved next year, UW still has a chance to be good if they don't lose BOTH Wroten & Ross, USC should be healthier and more competitive, and of course UCLA and UA should benefit from their talent infusions. Cal is the only team I see regressing, and they still have a solid backcourt and Monty. I see 4-5 NCAA teams next year.

Silliness and needlessly insulting. Arizona lost by 22 to BYU, 17 to UW, and 22 to UCLA, but they were an elite 8 team. I guess cherry picking bad losses isn't that informative after all.

Colorado's Big 12 losses last season:
12 to Nebraska
7 to Oklahoma
4 to Kansas
4 to Baylor
16 to Missouri
3 to Texas A & M (in OT)
26 to Kansas
5 to Iowa St
7 to Kansas

Not all that great, but they aren't exactly being run out of the building every night. Colorado also had a 2-point win over Texas (better than Arizona! but I shouldn't mention that because I should get stuck up in my pride like all the ridiculous posters here), 10 points over Nebraska, 16 over Iowa St, 13 over Missouri, and 12 over Kansas St. So more double digit wins than losses even if the greatest differential was a bad loss. It only counts once in the record.

Colorado did respectably in the Pac 12 in a down year. It's not like a middling team came over and dominated everyone. They pretty much fit with everyone else in the Pac 12: looking good at times and struggling at times.
