View Full Version : Eastern Conference is a joke

I'll give credit to Indiana, New Jersey and Detroit, because they've all done a solid job putting together good teams over the last few years, but past that, just how bad is the Eastern Conference. With the firings of Floyd and Stotts today, EVERY eastern conference team has a different coach then they had at this point last season. And to make matters worse, they hire the guys that their competitors fired. Jim O'Brien in Philly? He couldn't win in Boston. Doc Rivers in Boston? He couldn't win in Orlando. And now the Hornets are talking about hiring Alvin Gentry? After giving Tim Floyd the boot after just one year? What a joke. The owners/GM's of these teams must be complete idiots. I mean, it's not Stott's fault that Atlanta traded away every good player on their team (aside from Terry). No wonder the Bulls won the east every year they had Jordan....
Seattle was the 12 seed in the west with 37 wins. That would have put them IN THE PLAYOFFS in the east, as the 8 seed. The 8 seed in the west, Denver, had 43 wins. That would have made them the 4 seed in the east and, and they had just 4 wins less than the Nets, who won the Atlantic Division. How has David Stern let this happen? And he wonders why people aren't excited about the NBA. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing east coast teams struggle, but since the vast majority of large cities are on the east coast, something's gotta give...
