Is Todd Helton on the block? The deal I heard made some sense but I can't see why he would be moved.

Helton is a stud. Dude can flat out rake and has improved himself tremendously defensively. There is no way I am trading him if I am the Rockies unless I am getting a powerhitting MI or C in return. Its just not worth it for the Rockies to trade for a stud arm.
BTW, what was the rumor you heard?

Todd Helton - 1B - Colorado Rockies Nov 5
Because of their money troubles, the Rockies are open to the possibility of dealing Todd Helton or Preston Wilson.
Helton has a no-trade clause, but he said he'd willing to consider moving on. Still, since he's owed $130.9 million over the next eight seasons, it's extremely unlikely that he'll be moved. Wilson, who is due $21.5 million over the next two years, is more likely to go. Perhaps the Yankees, Mets, Angels and Dodgers will be interested. Source: Denver Post
This is old, but not much has changed. Wilson is untradeable right now, and Helton has a horrendous contract:
2004: $11.6M
2005: $12.6M
2006: $16.6M
2007: $16.6M
2008: $16.6M
2009: $16.6M
2010: $16.6M
2011: $19.1M
2012: Team option $23.0M or $4.6M buyout
I don't see anyone but the Yankees taking that on. What's the rumor?

Derek Lowe, Kelly Shoppach, Hanley Ramirez and a minor league pitcher.

I doubt a team would trade for Lowe because he is a free agent after this year. Maybe if Boston threw in Youkilis. I read that the Red Sox might of been showcasing Youkilis. It is almost guaranteed that Beltran will be traded before the trading deadline and I would not be surprised if the Red Sox go after him and somehow package Damon somewhere with prospects.

This just in!
The Diamondbacks have agreed to send Brandon Webb, Chad Tracy, Jose Valverde and their top two farm system prospects - OF Luis Terrero and 2B Scott Hairston - to the Mets for 2B Joe McEwing, a roll of stamps and a round trip ticket anywhere Southwest Airlines flies in the Western U.S.
Dbacks' GM Joe Garagiola, Jr. is touting this trade as a momentus event in franchise history, saying that it might one day supplant the brilliant Curt Schilling for Nancy Sinatra and Lyle Overbay, Junior Spivey (plus 12 other Dback prospects) for a bottle of Heinz 57 and a dash of garlic salt deals.
Don't be surprised, Dback fans.

Stew- Yes Helton is on the block. I don't know where he would go though. Where did you get that trade?

Lowe would be the prototype physically for Coors. Getting him in season would give them a chance to sign him. I doubt this will happen Ramriez is too highly thought of for them to move.
