who is the next to go? My guess is Delgado and either Russ Ortiz and perhaps Andruw Jones. Based on what has happened in the NL West in the last week, you gotta figure the Pads, Giants and Dodgers are looking to deal. The Dodgers could be in real trouble if Perez's shoulder turns out to be worse than expected. The west is going to be wild and a big trade could turn the tide...

Delgado makes 18 M and hes on the DL. I don't know of many teams that will be willing to take on that risk/salary.
With Ortiz, I can't see the Braves ever feeling in a position to sell. They've been good for so long, don't know if they could give up on the season.
I think the Giants, Dodgers and Padres will all make a deal. The one makes out best will probably win the division.

I expect the Metropolitans to ship Leiter and/or Glavine very soon.

I don't know about that WP. The Mets have the finances to take on salary, plus they are certainly not out of the NL East race. Also, their minor leagues aren't as decimated as other teams. I expect them to be a bidder not a seller before the deadline.

Not every trade is a contender-to-rebuilder/proven veteran-for-prospects type deal.
The Mets have the best pitching in the majors to go along with the 2nd worst offense (only ahead of Montreal.) The Red Sox and Yanks would both kill for another solid lefty, and each team is overflowing with quality hitters.

I woould have to agree on the trade front reagarding all 3 NL West teams. I sure hope Delgado doesn't become a Dodger unless they give up very little for him and Toronto takes on a lot of his salary. He could resigned at a deep discount next year and rub Shawn Green's feet at night over some wine by the fire.

• While the Yankees have missed out on Freddy Garcia, they have other names on their wish list, according to the New York Daily News — including Russ Ortiz, Kevin Millwood and Orlando Hernández.
• The Detroit News and the Chicago Tribune reports Ugueth Urbina could be on the move — possibly to the White Sox. However, the New York Daily News reports he could be Octavio Dotel's successor in Houston. The Houston Chronicle reports Brad Lidge will remain the closer with the possibility that the Astros could obtain Arthur Rhodes from Oakland to set up Lidge

I laugh everytime I hear the whole Delgado to LA rumors becuase he and Green are good friends. What GM in his right mind, (Kevin Malone excluded) would make a trade based on that one piece of news. Yet, the papers make it seem like a done deal because of their friendship. I am one of those who thinks Green needs protection in the lineup, (who doesn't) for him to succeed but Delgado isn't the answer. I would love to see Sweeney come over from the Royals but he is just as injury prone as Delgado.
My deals of choice in a perfect world would be to go after Russ Ortiz and Mike Sweeney. Those two seem to be the most attractive at their respective positions at the time. Who the hell knows at this point who the buyers and sellers are anyway. In two weeks, Tom Glavine, AL Leiter, Adrian Beltre, Carlos Beltran (again) Delgado, et al could all be dealt...
