Americans are favored by 11.
Predictions? Will we bounce back and rout them by 30 like we should? Or will the Greeks play out of their asses in front of their countrymen?

We win big.
But Iverson has a broken thumb. If that keeps him from shooting, I'd guess we win by about 40. If he keeps jacking up shots, it might be close . . .

Is there anyone on the Greece team, I seem to remember "Baby Shaq" Sofoklis from the '03 draft was Greek, although I could be wrong. And I would predict we come out flat, since they know nothing else, but Greece would have to play out of their minds to have a chance, I just dont think they have any players.

Sofoklis Schortiandis is playing, although I dont think he'll be able to do much against Duncan. HOWEVERm the Greeks have a guy by the name of Lazaros Papadopoulos...
I dont see how they can't win with that guy on the team, he sounds like a player to me.

Just a massive home court advantage.
I don't know about the basketball team, but the baseball team requires only that one grandparent be greek. 18 out of 20 Greek baseball players are US born.

Hate to say it, but Richard Jefferson is killing the US.

Is there somewhere to get updates for those of us at work? Right now NBC is showing the US up 18-17 and RJ 0 for 3. Is that pretty current?

I remember George Papadopoulos. He was a cool TV dad.

I wish the whole USA team would be made up of 0 pros. They suck. They ball hog. They are boring to watch. They don't want to be there. They have nothing to play for. Boooooo.

37-31 USA at the half, Greeks with a strong finish to cut the lead down from 12.
The Americans had one nice run when they turned up the D (none of the Greeks can handle the ball), got some steals and easy dunks from James.
Other than that it's been an even game. Lots of fouls, it's ugly.

Translation: Team USA needs more white guys.

I've never hated him before but Stephon Marbury's worthlessness is really growing on me now. USA will lose this game, and it's just into the 3rd quarter right now.

So we lose in '88 and it paves the way for professionals to play olympic basketball. What is this year's debacle going to bring? Are we going to get the IOC to allow us to play 7 on 5? How about if we buy the world's best talent and then slap a USA jersey on them? Something has got to be done. This is so embarrasing. We invented the freakin' game for cripes sakes!!!

Greece cuts it to 4 at the end of the 3rd.

Odom is coming up HUGE, 2 blocks and a breakup on the fast break. And I cant stand international basketball for the fact that referees destroy any flow that the game may have with the foul calls on damn near every rebound.

Odom looks good....You kind of forget how tall he is.
I can't believe Marbury cant hit a 20 footer...amazing.
Duncan is sick...and if wasn't for AI, we would lose by 15.

won by 6, Odom played out of his mind down the stretch on the defensive end, 3 blocks, a broken up fast break and a couple of big rebounds, and he knocked down a hook in the last couple minutes, and he's now saying he was sick all day and they gave him IV's before the game. Thats what olympic performances are about, all guts, leavin it all on the floor.
