just as I supposed in another thread Jersey is trying to acquire Vince Carter, but they are not giving up Ason Kidd as I had expected. Instead they are trading everyone excpet Kidd and RJ. Don't know what Bruce Ratner is thinking but if this goes down they have NOBODY to play inside.

They have nobody right now...

Who the hell are they trading if they aren't giving up Kidd or Jefferson???

Zo? Williams?? Krstic??? They have nobody, but they do have three 1st round picks...HMMMM...intersting. Me thinks it's a stupid trade on both parts, but still, very interesting in deed.

Leaving them with Collins, Scalabrine, and Krstic up front. And you thought the Suns were playing small ball?

They need a seat-filler once Kidd gets traded...perhaps they'll trade Kidd for a big...

Three-way with Portland anyone???

If the Nets could get
Cassell from the Wolves and Abdur-Rahim from the Blazers....

a lineup of
Cassell
Carter
Jefferson
Abdur-Rahim
Krstic

isn't bad in the East. It ain't good, but it's bad neither.

By the way, I'm just speakin' out me arse on this last part. I have no idea if it's even being considered. But it could work for both teams

Minnesota trades
Cassell, Sprewell, filler/picks
recieves
Kidd, Derek Anderson

Portland trades
Abdur-Rahim, Anderson
recieves
Sprewell, filler, picks

New Jersey trades
Kidd, filler, pick
recieves
Cassell, Abdur-Rahim

hahaha Spree is a perfect fit for the Blazers franchise, he wans boat loads of money and is far from a saint off the court(not too bad recently). What I wanna know is how closely the salaries match up, cuz dont you have like 5% leway or something?

All right this is the only way it can happen, (but again, this trade was just off the top of me head)...

New Jersey trades
Kidd (14.8), future 1st.
recives
Abdur-Rahim (14.6)

Minnesota trades
Sprewell (14.6), future 1st rounder
recieves
Kidd (14.8)

Portland trades
Abdur_Rahim (14.6)
recieves
Sprewell (14.6), 2 future 1sts...

then

New Jersey trades
6.2 million of its 10 million trade exemp (Kittle to LA)
recieves
Cassell (6.2)

Minnesota trades
Cassell (6.2)
recives
6.2 million in trade exemption

then

Minnesota trades
5.8 million of exemption
recieves
Ruban Patterson (5.8)

Portland trades
Ruban Patterson
recieves
5.8 million of exemp

Final talley
New Jersey trades
Kidd, future 1st, 6.2 million of exemption
recieves
Abdur-Rahim, Cassell

Minnesota trades
Sprewell, Cassell, future 1st, 5.8 million of exemption
recieves
Kidd, Patterson, 400,000 in exemption...

Portland trades
Abdur-Rahim, Patterson
recieves
Sprewell, 2 future 1st's, 5.8 exemption

Why they do it.

New Jersey gets frontcourt depth and an expiring contract (SAR) and cheap contract (cassell)

Minnesota gets Kidd and depth in Patterson

Portland gets rid of Patterson's contract, gets two 1sts, 5.8 million exemption and still has a 14.6 million expiring contract at year's end.

It's not exactly the most logical, but it's the only way it can happen, makes sense for all team involved and works under the CAP and it's rules...

Kidd/Carter/RJ... that's going to be so fun to watch. The Nets really need another big man and they can contend in the East again.
