With Kobe sitting for the first 7 minutes of the fouth quarter the Lakers erase 9 point lead.

Lakers over Minnesota (http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/gamecenter/recap/NBA_20050110_LAL@MIN)

When the Lakers hit their 3's they are dangerous. 16-for-35 from 3-point range. Kobe hits big 3 with 1:44 left in fourth. The Lakers aren't giving up.

C. Atkins, PG 40 9-19 1-4 7 7 2 23. He is the key for any success for the Lakers. Kobe needs him bring the ball up (trust) and let Kobe move for his shot. The Lakers are now 6th in the West.

3-2 After playing Denver, SA, Dallas, Houston and Minnesota.

Music to me ears...

I hate Kobe more than the Lakers...though I have little love for the lalaland's finest...

If they make their three's, any team can win. Lakers need to discover their identity. Are they a Kobe-led, Kobe-bled team or are they a team of telented wing players working together to torment the league?

Once they figure this out...

I watched the game and man did the Lakers look good with KB8 ON THE BENCH! The ball was zooming around and opening jumpers were everywhere. Jumaine Jones, Chucky Atkins, Caron Butler (playing very well BTW), Chris Mihm and Brian Cook were taking it the T_Wolves. Lamar Odom was on the bench too. With the Lakers up 91-83, Kobe returned and the T-Wolves went on a 5-0 mini run to close it to 91-88 as the Lakers offense consisted of Iso's for Kobe. It was pathetic. Kobe got fouled on a post up and hit the two free throws to make it 93-88 and the game was never again truly in doubt as Minnesota couldn't make a shot down the stretch.

Win Sits Well for Kobe
Teammates' strong play keeps Bryant on the bench for much of fourth quarter as Lakers ride a barrage of three-pointers to 105-96 victory over Timberwolves.

In essence, the Lakers won a road game because of a critical run without Bryant, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves, 105-96, in front of 18,642 at the Target Center.

Bryant strode up to Tomjanovich, smiled and asked whether he could get back into the game as the Timberwolves ran the other direction.

Tomjanovich's answer, firm and final and loud: "Not yet."

Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett had wagged a figurative finger at Bryant a day earlier, telling him, through the media, to be careful what he wishes for, as far as the big picture was concerned. Garnett's take was in response to a question about the Lakers' apparent reversal of fortune since trading Shaquille O'Neal.

"I'm not Kobe," Garnett told reporters Sunday. "I don't know what Kobe wants. I don't know what Kobe thinks.

"But," Garnett added wistfully, "be careful what you ask for sometimes."

Lakers did ok with Kobe on the bench. Interesting twist, wonder if it's for real?

That's quite the montague...thing is, it's all about the rings. Jordan won his, Kobe got his. Jordan dominated en route, Kobe rode shaq'a coattails to two...

Kobe's nothing more than a rank imitation.

I don't think there was a Bulls team that was losing by 18, took Jordan out, then came back to win with Jordan riding pine...

I wouldn't say Kobe rode Shaq's coattails to two. He was key in all three. He was absolutely awesome in the playoffs during the second title, the Lakers best team. The first title, he led the Lakers to an OT win on a bum ankle after Shaq had fouled out.

Kobe's great...Shaq made him all-time great...That's all I meant.
