I saw what I think was probably the most juvenile act from an adult Longhorn fan last night. There were 2 UA students having a good time and heckling the Longhorn pitcher around the 6th inning. The UA kids were not saying anything that was out of context nor rude, it was just stuff like "You don't have anything" You can't throw" stuff like that.

I see this guy wearing a burnt orange jacket (UGLY COLOR) and he goes over to these 2 students, and say's excuse me and pretends to trip and he pours soda all over these 2 guys. Everyone that was around and saw it started to yell at him and of course he runs off to the Longhorn section and blends in with the rest of the burnt oranger crew.

That was completely uncalled for and that shows how stupid some folks can be. I had my 3 kids with me and they asked "why did he do that?". I told them that the guy was a bad sport and that what he did is not the way to handle themselves if they don't like what is being said. That dude was a MAJOR A$$hole. :fur:

I was sitting too far away too see what was happening most of the time but I heard about that, and there were a number of other times when fans from both teams were escorted out. I went to the games against asu this year also and there didn't seem to be the same problem, despite the obvious rivalry and a good number of fans from both teams in attendance. I'm not saying it's necessarily Texas' fault, but it's interesting that there were more incidents last night than when we played the devils.

Great jacka$$ rooting for Texas.

Well maybe this will start a yearly series. I'm sure there will be a bigger presence of U of A staffers for the next two games. My son with the Texas hat on. This should be fun. :D

You're welcome, Gonzaga.
The Dogs now own the longest home win streak, thanks to TEXAS' W tonight in Stillwater (29-game home win streak SNAPPED). And with ESPN-U (the "Siete") opening with College Gameday at Oklahoma State to get them all wound up.
The point?? Guess Texas WILL be going to the NCAA's, and not the "NIT, NIT, NIT!" as the Wildcat BASEBALL fans were chanting last night after their LOSS.
That said, I wouldn't go out and dump a Coke on somebody for razzing our pitcher. Texas is not without their A-hole fans. I'm not going to go as far as to say our fans are perfect-that would be crazy. But was what you stated the WHOLE story? I wasn't there, you saw some of it. I've worn burnt-orange (the color of BASEBALL-dirt, and my hair) to Lubbock, Waco, and CS, and frankly, I'm TOO old to even want to visit any of those venues again and simply support my team (i.e. cheer when we get the last out in an inning after BAYLOR just took the lead---and had a "fan" get in my face about it). IT'S TOO DANGEROUS! My folks raised me right. I don't go looking for trouble (no trash-talk-initiating, no Coke throwing:) The level of hatred we seem to generate is just too much. Sorry we win so much. We're not going to start being mediocre just so we can be liked. Why did 4644 show up Friday night, and UofA didn't even get that vs ASU?
My brother the Sun Devil told me UofA was up 8-0 in the 2nd tonight. Congrats to the BatCats (cool nickname).

Howdy Cowtown Horn.

Your fans were well behaved at tonights (Sat) game.

Question for you.

What is that Nazi like salute you do before the game ? Where they Singing a song or something. I was on the first base line.

I think we may have earned the right to rag on the UT basketball team whenever we want (by the way UofA got the WIN tonight).

The level of hatred we seem to generate is just too much. Sorry we win so much. We're not going to start being mediocre just so we can be liked. Why did 4644 show up Friday night, and UofA didn't even get that vs ASU?

I really don't think anyone has anything against Texas. I think the fans turned our to see the Cats play the #1 team in the country, and it just happened to be Texas (for now).

Anyway, I hope everyone can get along at the game tomorrow and thanks for posting.

"Nazi salute"
EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Texas comes to town, the few (death-wish) fans roll in behind the dugout, start singing "The Eyes of Texas" behind the dugout following the national anthem and game, and we get the "Nazi salute" comments.

Get it right! We're not NAZIs, just DEVIL-WORSHIPPERS!

You're not from Texas, or the Big12 are you?
Austin paper published---Arizona fans chanted NIT, NIT following Texas baseball W Friday night.
We've been waiting to play you guys in something other than basketball for the past EIGHT YEARS! Why? We're tired of always LOSING to you!

You know, I posted a pretty harmless response regarding Wildcat fans in general, and get this kind of smart-a** ((huh, I wonder why)) response.
Well, we're going to the NCAAs---not the NIT, in BASKETBALL---inform your fellow BASEBALL fans of such (if you even went to the game). Texas baseball won it all in '02, you guys weren't even good enough to PLAY us in Omaha last year. Instead, we drilled the SEC teams you couldn't beat.

So YOU, not any other Wildcat posters, have BEGGED THIS on YOURself.

Guy throws a Coke? Know the whole story? He WAS unprovoked, other than harmless razzing? YEAH---He's a D**K! Were you with the Texas guy in the parking lot or the restroom when he was getting told to go FK himself?
Oh yeah, the ARIZONA STATE fans in 2000 (my brother was there) and he said there were a couple of unruly Texas fans (("this stadium is weak")). I told him our stadium was 30 years old and hasn't seen a coat of paint since Nixon was in office---those Texas fans were idiots.
Your fellow fans start chanting "NIT, NIT, NIT!" after you get beat (in BASEBALL, not BASKETBALL) because you collapsed in the 9th? WWWWWEEAKK!
Don't like it? Tough. Maybe you beat us Sunday and win the series. Fine. See you in Omaha (maybe not you, maybe not us)
You make a smart comment, you get a smart remark---like I said, I stated what I read in the paper, I didn't come out to Tucson and start commenting on Arizona.
I even like and respect Lute Olsen and what he's done out in Tucson (even though my brother is a SUN DEVIL). I guess I should stop.

Yeah, rag on the UT basketball team when the UT BASKETBALL team is actually playing UofA.
Otherwise, save it on the baseball team, although I'm sure they had a laugh on it.
Are you an aggie UofA grad student? The NIT thing sounds like something an aggie would come up with.

Dude, that is one devil-worshipping show!
I mean, if you're actually up that late at night when it comes on, what else could you be doing EXCEPT devil-worshipping? :)
I mean, the Dukes of Hazzard was from 10-11 here in Texas. Walker doesn't come on until like 2 or 3...
What does this mean for CHiPS?

My bro (the Devil) said it (#1) was Tulane, but that was just because ASU was playing them that weekend and he was trying to jack with my friend and his dad (the REAL uber-horns).
It was funny seeing him get worked up. Nice to know you're younger brother can get underneath somebody ELSE's skin like he can yours...

Cowtown Horn you are spunky.

When I read your replys I don't know who you are talking about and/or what you are talking about. Well I kinda do but it makes my head hurt reading your posts.

But keep on posting.

Hook em Horns. Or whatever you devil worshippers yell. :)

I love making people's heads hurt by making them think.

I think...no, wait...no, I AM going to tell my wife somebody else thinks I'm "spunky".

I like to do the HORNS DOWN a couple of times in the morning when I get out of the shower just to let GOD know I'm still on his side...:)
Since everybody else in TEXAS (and Oklahoma) can't be wrong...:)

I should've gone to ASU like my brother. Spring training spring breaks are the BOMB! I drove out of Tempe after he graduated in May 2002 and cried when I couldn't see Tempe in the rearview mirror on the way back to Texas (ask my wife). With good reason. I haven't been back since, and I miss it.

Anyone just now realizing the Texas baseball program is composed of and surrounded by *******s has missed UT's performance at the last two CWS.

Anyone dumb enough to buy your story Kenny, is the real ******* here. About every three months, you start a thread bashing Texas for no apparent reason other than to reveal to everyone you have a severe inferiority complex. The mere fact that you consistently go out of your way to bash Texas makes your story incredibly uncredible. Furthermore, how do the actions of one fan, make a whole nation of fans classless? Pretty narrowminded if you ask me. Next your gonna post that you saw a black man who couldn't read, therefor all black men are illiterate.

I dont really know what you're referring to but I dont see any stories from LK. The story that started this thread was not from him.

Good call budd1Lee. Drank too much last night and a little groggy this morning. Probably shouldn't have thrown LK under the bus there but it looked like one of his stories that pop up every couple months. So I pose the same question to the originator of this thread. A couple years ago, when I was watching the UT-AZ hoops game, there was a table of real a-hole AZ fans talking a bunch of trash. They were promptly escorted out of the establishment for their own safety. So by the thinking in this thread, should I assume all Zona fans are classless? Or should I use common sense and realize I have a bunch of friends that went to Zona that are good people and every school is gonna have some bad seeds? I am also confused by the chanting of N-I-T. I am fairly certain there is only one end of season tournament for baseball. I mean Zona made the series last year, their fans have to realize baseball does not have a N-I-T tourney.

Lets be honest here. All fans have their claseless morons. My friend went to a UA game as an SC fan and got quarters thrown at him. He isn't about to say that they are claseless but I think a generalization can be made for some schools that the majority can be. Texas fans seem claseless because it is every friggin sport with their hooks and their sore losing. It begins to get tiredsome, and not easy to hate. You know-like when Auggie can't even shake a hand. Every school has their fans that they wish would go away-Texas just seems to have a bit more of em

I dont think that anybody called the whole fanbase classless, with the exception of the thread title. If you read the end of his post it wasn't any generalizations, just singling out this one guy.

That was completely uncalled for and that shows how stupid some folks can be. I had my 3 kids with me and they asked "why did he do that?". I told them that the guy was a bad sport and that what he did is not the way to handle themselves if they don't like what is being said. That dude was a MAJOR A$$hole.

There are always going to be people like this and I think you would be hard pressed to find a fanbase without them. On the same token I think you would be hard pressed to find a fanbase without some very nice individuals who are the polar opposite of the fan mentioned in this thread.

Nobody,

I think part of it has to do with how well Texas travels. Texas travels in big numbers for all their sports. A large group of fans together makes a bigger statement than anything, especially when they root against your team. Everyone also hates LSU fans. Why, because they travel big, and come in loud and proud. I know a ton of people who find it obnoxious, but to me, that is the definition of good fans. They support their team in big #s on the road and our loud when they get there. Is it annoying, yes. Anything wrong with it, no. Trust me, I run into many Texas fans that I would love to get my hands on in the parking lot of a bar, but like you noted, every school has their stable of ass clowns. Augie not shaking hands was an embarrassing deal. He is sticking by his story that he was told it wasn't necessary, but even if not mandatory, it was in poor taste that he did not go back out no matter how shaken up his team was.

Relatives live in Tucson, way out east by the mountains. Great place, enjoyed the time spent there, would consider moving there if the right opportunity presented itself...
Cactus League is something we don't have here...we just have the Rangers.

And YES, that does suck-for now.

Going to Game 1 of the 2001 World Series was electric---glad he was a Sun Devil just for that.
