View Full Version : Washington Versus Miami

I will go on record and say the Wizzards are going to give the Heat real problems and could win this series.
The Wizzards are extremely athletic and big. They are not a one man or two man show. The Heat are not the best defensive team in the league.
Lot's of reasons to be optimistic if you are a Wizzards fan -
Quite frankly all of the 2nd round match ups are good ones - the playoffs are about to begin.
I love this game

I think the Wizards challenge, but ultimately win only two games.
I just don't see the Wizards having any answer for Shaq, also, remembering that the Wiz is one big man short of a full roster with the Kwame suspension.
I think Shaq goes for a 25-13-3 type of series with Wade going for 22-6-6 and one of the Jones' going for 15 per game.
I think the games will be close, but Washington isn't a complete offensive team and if their shots aren't falling, they really struggle to score.
Miami is a little lax on defense, but they are a very complete team and should pull this series out in 6. If Shaq is hurt, all bets are off, but I think he's plenty healthy for this series.

You may be right - but the absence of Kwame may be a blessing - Ethan Thomas is getting more minutes.
I like the guy he competes - while maybe not great - he would have been a nice addition to our team last off season.
The Wizzards can't throw the ball in the ocean but they are in this game -
Looks like early stage fright -
They do have the athletes that can cause Wade some problems - it will be Miami role players that will win this series.

This series won't start until it gets to Washington.
The Wizards are too young and inexperienced to steal one of the first two at Miami without being completely on fire (and Washington has yet to be "completely on fire" in any playoff game)...
I figure they split in Washington, giving the Wiz enough confidense to steal one on the road before making things interesting, but ultiamtely losing in Game 6 at home.

I like how the Heat had its crowd dress in red.
Made those empty seat blend right in on TV.
I watched a little.
Possession = Foul. 52 fouls called today.
Pumped in Music during Heat offensive set. Am I at a bar or basketball game ?

I'm gonna keep trying to watch b/c of JMJ but the NBA game and feel need some changes.

4-1 Heat.
The only way wiz can win a game is when their guards have shooting night at the same time. Two xcarolinas are softies maximus, a two headed weak monster with 1-2 92 draft picks breathing vaderly in their neck.
if Wiz owned by bulls in the paint area, Wiz pwnd by Heat.
no chance.
Damn laettner with his cheap dunk.

The fungus in Shaq's toenails is more productive on the basketball court than Christian Laettner. Surely there's a Duke player left in the NBA Playoffs that contributes.... right? Someone? Anyone?

However many levels of Hell there actually are, I think Laettner should have one reserved just for hinm and Wojo...and Deron Williams after what he did.

This game is much better than the first, but even so, it isn't really all that close.
Heat will prolly win by double-figures, but the actual game will be much closer than the final score indicates. Hell, it was tied late third...

The Heat will win 4-1. The young Wizards just can't compete with the experience of the Heat. The Wizards front line just isn't very good and they are no match for Shaq (even though he has yet to dominate in these playoffs), Haslem, and Mourning. The Wizards have great guards but Gil and Larry are no better than Dwade, and the Jones boys. Right now, it looks like Wade is the best player in this series. The guy is quickly rising to the level that Kobe was at during the great Laker runs. He may already be there, or better, in some ways.

I think what we can conclude from this series is that things are looking very good for Detroit or, if the Heat somehow beat Detroit, for whoever they play in the finals. Shaq is at about 60%. If Shaq were 100%, the Washington series would be an easy sweep. As it is, I think it's still about even money that it'll be a sweep.

I'm not ready to yield anything in any series. The top-teams are supposed to win the first two. I just don't think a team can go 8-0 vs. another playoff team in one season.
I just don't think it's possible anymore. Miami pulled away late last night and Washington didnt play that great. Miami is not a great road team, they aren't a great defensive team and Washington has a very good homecourt crowd and is a good home team.
I'd anticipate at least one for Miami, if not the series being evened up.
Remember, they were killed in the first two games in the Bulls series, then returned home and turned things around. While Chicago isn't Miami, they were certainly the better defensive team, by far...
If Shaq is still hobbled, this series could certainly go six.

What I have seen from this series - it has been a matter of Washington just not making shots - they are getting good looks and anticipate them getting back in this series at home.

They just interviewed Arenas Sr. and said that Jason Garner and Lute are at the game, to which Senior replies, "bring 'em on over!" and that it "means a lot that [Lute] is there."
It's good to see UA gettin the pub it deserves for sending a half-dozen All-Stars/calibur players to the league the past 15 years.

What's wrong with Diesel anyway? i thought he played through his injuries all this time. Is it getting worse? or this is just NOT an important game/round (having 2-0 lead)? Without diesel, the wiz bigs will be more aggresive.
Time for laettner to step up his game. bwa ha ha...

I'm sure Shaq is taking this game off out of luxery and not necessity.
They own a 2-0 lead vs. a team the are 6-0 against this season.
Others are playing very well and Shaq felt the need for a night off.
No problem.
Their season doesn't start until the Conference Finals.

Yeah, I really thought this was the Wizards chance to "steal" a game at home.
Seriously, though. This is looking like another sweep. Mourning was a huge pickup. Pat Riley is so smart. Thank god for a real GM (unlike mitch cupcake).

It's still about even money. The Wiz have about a 50-50 chance with Shaq on the sidelines next game. But the Heat are much tougher and more disciplined than the Wiz.

I've heard that Shq is unlikely for Game 4, but that's hardly relevant, considering it was a must win reguardless.

The Heat are up 3-0 and if they lose they head back to Miami (right?). Shaq should definitely sit this one out. The Heat will not lose this series, regardless of the outcome of game 4. As a fan, I'd like to see another sweep, though. Meanwhile, if Indiana and Detroit can go 7 games and beat up on each other that would be good.

Yes, 2-2-1-1-1 is the series until the Finals which is 2-3-2.
It's a no lose situation for the Heat. Even if they lose to night, it doesn't really matter. Even if Shaq doesn't play in Game 5, I doubt they lose at home.
I think Washington takes this game...

I guess if Miami was to lose tonight, I'd at least like to see Big Gil have a great game. 30 pts and 10 assists would be fine. Actually, they'll probably need a big game from him if they expect to walk away with a win.
