Playing for another round against ASU....Any idea if UA put in for a Super Regional?

On one hand, I'd like for ASU and UA to have another 3 game set because I felt like ASU was embarrassed last time and I'd like the chance to seek some revenge. However, I'd be able to attend at least one of the games if ASU were to battle Fullerton. Tough Choice.

Good Luck.

lofty
06-05-2005, 11:10 PM
Thanks.. we'll need it and we'll take it.

Yes, we did put in for a super regional. And we'd damn well deserve to host it, if we're able to somehow take another one from Fullerton in front of their 3500 fans.

I still think it's horse**** we got stuck in this region. And not only that, Fullerton's gotta feel jobbed a bit too. Defending champs and all and they get the toughest region by far. I mean, hell.. Fullerton, Cats, Tigers... all three all are super regional caliber. Only one gets to go on.

Titan

On the other side of the coin, NONE of the teams in Tempe was Super Region caliber. Devils now think they're really something for handling the Carolina Techs. After we take care of business in Cali, I'd love to see us hang another couple of two touchdown trouncings on'em.

These CSF announcers are AWFUL.

C'mon Cats, put another one in the win column!

lofty
06-05-2005, 11:37 PM
I'm with D.I. We did very well last night. Very well to hang six on Romero. And then we gutted it out under tremendous pressure all night. Would LOVE to grab a win tonight while Fullerton may be tiring a bit... love to not have to play them tomorrow. I think if that happens we're in deep **** and not likely to advance out of this hell region. HERE'S to ending it now and hightailing home to a Super Regional!

Has it started yet? Someone listening to it? Let's keep the updates coming.

lofty
06-05-2005, 11:38 PM
I was SO hoping Missouri would hang on.. I still feel like an underdog and like our chances of advancing are slim even with Fullerton needing to beat us twice in a row. I gotta have more faith..

ZONACAT
06-05-2005, 11:38 PM
I think we have to win tonight to advance. CSF should be tired, this is where we have to slit the throat.

Cats shut down the Titans 1-2-3 in the top of the first.

lofty

I agree zona cat. Entirely. Damnit.. the gametracker isn't functional right now.. I'm fully relying on updates here. No radio or ESPNU.

All Pac Ten teams that made the tournament are still alive with ASU and OSU already through to Super Regionals. USC has to take on Pepperdine tomorrow for all the marbles after losing tonight to them. Stanford has to beat Baylor twice to advance.. unlikely, but they're still alive. Total record real time is 12-2.

Actually, no we don't. I fully recognize that, for once, we got a favorable draw from the committee. While all of you are complaining about the draw you got, I say, been there, done that. Last year, you got sent to an easy regional, while we (as a national # 1 seed) got sent to CSF. They were only a 2 seed, but that was very misleading. The second half of the season last year, they were as good as anyone as proven by the fact that they went on to win the title. We've played at Fullerton in the postseason 3 times in the last 4 years. I'm not trying to be combative here, but you really should look to your own "fans" as the reason you got stuck in Fullerton. If you had drawn more this year, you could have put in a bid to host and ASU would have gone to Fullerton as a 2 seed and been spanked again by the Titans. Anyway, good luck tonight. I'll cheer for a Lopez team any day of the week vs. a Horton team.

I personally was hoping (if we made it through the regional against Mizzu, CSF, Harvard) that ASU would take care of business so we could end up playing them for the rights to go to the CWS. Although, that is a big IF! I hope our offense wakes up tonight. I see this game being high scoring somewhere around the 12-10 range. As bad of a draw as we got I agree with Devilfan saying they have been screwed in the past and they deserved a break. Did I just say that?

Unfortunatley, this game is played on ESPNU and who the hell has that? Call around to bars and they aren't quite sure how to get it. Can't they put it on ESPN2 or regular ESPN?

Either way I will be glued to the radio even though my wife can't stand that. Go Cats and send the Titans to bed early.

I can't imagine that the Selection Committee would have sent you guys to Fullerton again. I bet if we bid, we get the bracket that you guys got, you go to Long Beach and USC goes to Fullerton. I think that Livengood will regret not putting in for a regional (whether we win or lose tonight) because I think that he is sending a bad message to the community, recruits, alumni, Coach Lopez, and others about the value of the baseball program. Take a hit one year with the expectation that the commitment to bring the regionals to Tucson would pay off in the long run. I hope that Livengood gets a chance to make amends...

DevilFan - I'm going to have to go ahead and acknowledge that your points were pretty much right on. If we win today, it can all be forgotten, unless we have to then come to Tempe for the Super (I'm in Phx), even though we scored A LOT of runs there. If we lose, somebody needs to take a good, hard look at things in Tucson, I guess starting with the fans.
