Are the days of being able to give away a FREE ticket to a U of A football game over ? B/c there will be none to give away.

Heck I would sit next to Immel if I didn't have a ticket for a U of A Football game.

A Free Seat for OSU (http://forum.goazcats.com/showthread.php?t=21706&highlight=Tailgate)

At the time I thought maybe people just don't want to meet from the internet
or didn't want to sit next to me.

After the game I just figured U of A football hasn't caught on.

Is anyone getting the feeling that this upcoming season could be huge building block towards a great future ?

Without question, this season is the second brick in the wall.

Utah W
NAU W
Purdue W
California L
USC L
Stanford W
Oregon W
OSU L
UCLA W
UW W (bowl-game locked up)
ASU W

Though, in the interests of full-disclosure, these are my predictions from last season, so you can see why I'm not in the prognostication business:

Northern Arizona - W (W)
Utah - W (L)
Wisconsin - L (L)
Wash St. - W (L)
at UCLA - W (L)
at Oregon - L (L)
California - L (L)
Oregon State - W (L)
at Washington - W (W)
at Southern Cal - L (L)
Arizona State - W (W)

Arizona heads to the Sun Bowl.
Stoops wins Coach of the Year Honors.
Udofia verbals in November, after seeing we are in a bowl game.
McGaha verbals after seeing Heavner's solid year.

Whoa, you are predicting us to lose to NAU. I really dont know about that one. I really have no clue how this season will work out but it almost all depends on how the first four games end up. Football is all about confidence and if you are winning then things are easier and you practice harder and play better. I honestly believe that if we ended up beating Wisconsin and Washington State last year that we win probably two more games throughout the year, or at least one more. Next year getting out of Utah, Purdue, NAU, and Cal with three wins will go for a huge season. We wont lose to NAU though. Just my prediction and I am a bias fan but...

Utah W
NAU W
Purdue W (still dont know about this one, but if we beat Utah I think we win this one as well, if we lose to Utah I think we will lose this one also)
California L
USC L
Stanford W
Oregon L
OSU W
UCLA L
UW W
ASU W

That gives us a 7 win season which I dont really expect to happen. I bet we win 6 games so one of the wins up there we will most likely lose. Best bet would be Purdue since they are a solid team, but I dont buy into the preseason hype and feel that even though they return their entire defense it was extremely weak last year. I am sure Stoops learned from watching ASU that all you need to do is run a screen to beat them. I think if we beat Utah then we will beat Purdue, whereas if we lose to Utah then we are in for a long season.

A 6 win season would be huge.

Going from 2-10 two years ago to a possible bowl game.

UAstevens I think you are putting way too much on the Utah game.

Maybe something like this:

Utah W
NAU W
Purdue L
California L
USC L
Stanford W
Oregon L
OSU W
UCLA L
UW W
ASU W

I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic about the season...Continuous improvement upon last year's results will be good...

We have added many new weapons to the O & D...however we are still a couple of years away from making a significant impact in the Pac-10...

I hope I'm proven wrong...

I agree with what Wally says about the improvement next year. I would love to see us win 7 games, but am more concerned about how we look as a team. If we learned from our losses last year I will be happy. I'd sure like to see the coaching staff/players close out a game (Washington State and Wisconsin come to mind). I think the ASU game showed we are capable, but I would love to see them carry some of that momentum into this upcoming season.

I'm looking for a competitive team who is in it every 4th quarter. Also, would absolutley LOVE to see us go undefeated at home this year. Defending your home field is a sign of a confident and well-prepared team.

Really looking forward to this upcoming season and to see how the infusion of recruits and coaching philosophy take place.

Ciao

Guys, NAU doesn't count against the 6 game minimum of wins to make a bowl game for us this year because they counted last year. So assuming we beat NAU (could you imagine the fall out if we didn't..), it's gonna take 7 to get in to a bowl (in other words 6 outside of NAU)..

I think under the new rules it will count. I might be wrong here but I thought I remembered reading that awhile back. I will look it up. Six wins is kind of the standard expectation for this year and if we start to win then commitments are going to come rolling in because a ton of elite type kids want to see us win.

Oh thats right I forgot about the rule changes.. I know that before they did anything it wasn't going to count. Thanks for checking on that Ryan.

Whoops we got off track on the subject I wanted to talk about. Not the won loss record for 2006. That thread is coming soon I'm sure.

Its about the tickets becoming a hot item like basketball.

How soon will it be before you have 5 people asking if you have an extra ticket ?

I'm thinking 2007 season.

2007 may be a little too soon, I'll bet 2008..
