The Bruins are about to play the 'Cats. Since UCLA football (along with hoops) is not very good, do you guys care to wager a bit?
Calling on Global Cat. Come on, say something about this week-end's football game.

I'll bet you a nickel that Arizona beats the spread.

Ok, ok, I am here. Let's bet a sig line.
We win, your sig is my choice. We lose, my sig is your choice.
Simple as that, no spread.
:robevans: :dirk:
And for the first shot fired, UCLA might be rated #8, but the French had the world's largest military multiple times and still got whooped by small and more disciplined armies. Prussians, Austrians, Brits, etc.

If UCLA football = the French, Arizona = Sierra Leone

whoa there bud...don't be trash talkin sierra leone. you don't know what you're dealing with. they are viscious. and global is so right...oh so right. france is horrible. even in WW2 their army was larger and had more planes and armor and a great defensive system...yet they did what? oh yeah lost to hitler in a month. i could draw analogies from football and warfare all day long! (by the way if this was any other game i'd be rooting for ucla all the way..this is the only time you'd see me go against them)

A little guy named Napoleon had all of Europe shaking for a long, long time. Besides, without the Frenchies, we probably wouldn't have won the War of 1812.
Charlemagne was tops for awhile. Also, read up on Joan of Arc. Plus, the Normans, the eventual rulers of the UK, were of French stock.
I agree on the bet. UCLA will win hands down.

Norman = North man. They were derived from Norse stock during the raiding/trading/colonizing period from around 600-800 A.D. They assimulated with Frankish locals during that period. Then they realized they were living next to the French and so moved to England. :)

IIRC, no one won the war of 1812, the US's biggest win was actually after the war ended. The French actually helped us more in the Revolutionary War, but only after they saw that Britian was mired here.

They also sold us Louisiana for a song and a dance. I have no love for the French, but they did have a decent military history.

Ok, I took the bet, zero spread, and it looks like I won, mightily. Too sleepy to put your sig together, but I'll pass it along shortly.

Where's the Siggie? I wanna see it! How about Billy Thomas the FSN announcer's line at the end of the game?

The French are a bunch of pansies. Nazi Germany kicked their butts in just a few weeks. Hitler was so paralyzed by his success, he lost out on bringing Britain down as well.
Gotta put that sig up though.

Looks like Flipper is in for sure. TucsonDon and 11Banners are in the gray area... TD wanted in but never committed and 11B made some noise but never committed either.
