I wonder if he has to beat asu.

It is my understanding that after the season is over (this applies to all sports) Mr. Livengood sits down with members of the team to discuss the season. I would imagine the same will happen this year with the football team. At that point, I would think he will try to get a feel of whether or not the team will support Mackovic. My guess is Mack will be back regardless of the ASU game, but a win sure wouldn't hurt the fan support for the start of next year.

His job was never in danger, IMO. Livengood said that Mack was "VERY" secure in his position. The only thing that would lose him his job right now is if he gets caught in a Bobby Knight type of situation and lies about it. Mack is here for at least one more year. If we can beat ASU this whole thing is mostly forgotten and the recruiting will come a little easier once again. Today was key, and the entire program reacted well to this. JJ giving Mack the game ball set an example after the game, Mack is a good coach and he can still do great things with this program.

But it will not hurt. :)

I wonder after the asu game, win or lose if Mackovic might announce his resignation. After what he has gone thru this year with some of the players and coaches, plus recruiting will be extra tough, he says enough is enough and walks away. I think that could be a possibility because next year's schedule is brutal and if they get off to a bad start he will have to go thru the same thing he has gone thru this year.

NO,

1. Mack resigning would be detrimental to his own career, and would be devastating to recruiting this year.

It would be the best way to destroy the program completely. So that the next coach would have nothing to build on.
