KU has one 1st round loss in the last 25 years, how many does Zona have? exactly. Its funny how all your haters call KU out for their only low point in their program while your program has far more flaws. And for you who think Zona is going to win by double digits, your sadly mistaken. Just keep in mind what happened the last time we played, its going to end the exact same way. Will be a great game but you guys will be duking it out with Chaminade for 7th place

So you are acknowledging that Bill Self brought the program to it's low point? Nice! I knew you guys would see the light on that guy once you stopped drinking the Kool-Aid.

Also, I'm curious what inside info you have that makes your prediction about the game any more valid than the homers on this board predicting a double-digit loss for Kansas?

I think a lot of you are missing something that may turn up huge on Monday night: KU has two 6'11" ultra-athletes in the post, both of whom start, both of whom could be NBA bound within a season or two. Arizona's frontcourt, relatively speaking, is a bit lacking.

Good news for Zona fans is Downs may not play (sprained ankle).

ByJoveByJingle

Both frontcourts are unproven. We'll see what impact that has on Monday.

So here's the deal. Rag on AZ all you want about first round losses. All I can say is that to lose in the first round, one has to be IN the tournament.

Why would a Kansas fan have a problem with AZ discussing 1997? You folks don't hesistate to toss out Danny Manning's name! When did Kansas last win a NC? 1988???

You Jayhawks better hope old Self has figured out how to keep those long, tall freshmen well hydrated because if he hasn't, that's going to be a lot of body laying on the floor trying to overcome the cramps that are common place in that little gym in Hawaii.

Not at all. You're the one who's saying "last 25 years." Why not go back 30 years? Maybe 50?

Fact is, we're talking about 2005, not the last 25 years. Until the Jayhawks can get past the first round of the NCAAs again, the team and their fans will have to contend with that Bucknell loss.

Not to mention, contend with the reminders from rival fans. All. Season. Long. :D

Huh? What game were you watching? Julian played fine for his first collegiate game, and I'm curious what was bad about his play because the reviews were good on him aside from the 4 turnovers which are to be expected.

So did you acutally watch the game? If you did I hope you caught what Sasha Kaun did all night....dunk here, dunk there, dunk everywhere....beast I tell you, 25 and 16.

11-19-2005, 10:11 PM
Hey I'm not going to disagree with you there. Kaun looked great and with the problems Arizona is having up front that could be a major obstacle. I am not a huge fan of Wright and he did nothing the other night to change my mind. Maybe he will on Monday, maybe he won't

Also I don't consider Idaho State to be that good of a measuring stick for Kaun. And I did see their big man going for 22 and 10 as well

I think the problem is you think Wright is some phenom scorer or something, well hes anything from it which is why he is in college right now. Now Wright is a phenom in regards to his passing ability and all the intangibles so the second he can shoot the rock watch out college basketball.

I'm curious did you watch the Mcdonalds All American game? So you didnt like what Wright did their either? I like what he brings to the table, trust me come March this kid is going to be special....as does Lute and the rest of college basketball that recruited Wright.

I expect Kansas to give us a great game. Julian will give us trouble with put backs. You have the advantage on the front line that is for sure. I think Mario will have difficulty if Rodgers gaurds him and like all freshman defense will be a challenge. Expect a good game. I wil be taking it in with my Kansas buddy.......I think if the difference is coaching I expect Az. to win.

Now to the upsets....Standford loses and Mich. St loses. How smart was it of Izzo though to have his team already in HI. They lost to HI but still smart...

How about Utep, '92 UCLA in the second round as a 3 seed, Virginia, Rhode Island. I guess Hinrich for 3 doesnt remember those "FLAMEOUTS." The fact is, KU was recently one of the most respectable programs in College basketball, (Ask Coach Olson who set up a home and home with Roy) but now they are a Louisville-style once-was that is now a NCAA violation and embarrassing incident factory (Moon Bar Giddens) and underachiever that can bring in the top recruits for top dollar. It will be nice handing them a loss, just like in 97. And I love how they always bring up 2003. The difference is: In 97, we won it all; In 2003, they lost to Gerry McNamara, Hakim Warrick and Carmello (three underclassmen playing the zone). By the way, how is the weather out there in Kansas these days, its 80 degrees here?

But I wouldnt expect you to know that  I guess you will see first hand on Monday, but I find it sad that you talk sh*t about our offense when you have no idea what it is or what you can run with it.

I could care less none of those players are Bill Selfs, they are a result of the one and the only Roy Williams.

I guarantee you that I am...win or lose, get blown out or not I will be posting here, there are actually some very nice, intellectual posters here to converse hoops with. Your not exactly being one of those right now with all the bs your spouting.

You need to stop with the moronic comments, because quite frankly you are speaking out of your @ss especially with the high low talk, the JR Giddens talk etc you dont know half about KU that you think you do. And yes Monday will be fun, It cant come any sooner...win or lose we will have a good season, come March I dont think there are many teams that would want to see us in their bracket.

I just hope both of our teams dont start getting cramps...now that would really suck...anyone know whats with teams getting cramps in Hawaii?

J. Mack
11-20-2005, 12:16 AM
If you only care about Bill Self than why do you reference pre-03 KU history. And if the reason that KU flamed out with three great Roy players (and why two McD's all americans transferred) is because they were Roy recruits watch their careers go to oblivion and not BS recruits, than why did BS have such a tough time getting past Bucknell with them rather than adjusting and pulling out of the Hi-low. I know a whole lot more about KU b-ball than you do about Arizona b-ball and I am not out on phog.net posting every 5 minutes (I also live in Arizona where Arizona plays by the way; not California), so why are you here. The 97 banner will read the same, but the hi-low is here to stay (until bill self gets fired, that is). Boy, this hi-low talk seems to get under your craw; and the other KU fans Ive found

I also fail to see how Giddens stealing from walmart as a kid had anything to do with getting to play basketball. I stole a magazine once, should I have been denied college entry? You Zona fans grasp at any possible straw and milk it for everything its worth. Honestly though, I think your all closet KU fans who are pissed off you couldnt go there, Id be bitter too so I understand. Cry Bucknell all ya want, Id much rather go down as a 3 seed once then be one of what 4 teams in the history of the sport to lose to a 15 seed, who by the way we destroyed with Nash on there as well, so there goes that excuse. Enjoy the consolation bracket and watch out for those cramps

I never said I only care about only Bill Self, I said I didnt care for what Aaron Miles and company thought of the high low seeming as to how I cannot judge them or judge Bill Self when they were not his recruits, or even fit his style. So in essence the point you failed to grasp was that I didnt care about what that group did under Self, in other words I can't look at what they thought or did it would be unfair, they were recruited to play for Roy Williams not Bill Self....I dont want to get into it but a coaching change can create a lot of turmoil and it did just that.

Anyway

why did BS have such a tough time getting past Bucknell with them rather than adjusting and pulling out of the Hi-low.

I could go on and on about why we lost to Bucknell, but I dont want to be typing for hours and hours. Lets just put it this way turmoil, thinking they can turn it on and off when they want, injuries, inexperienced freshman because of injuries etc. A healthy Langford and a Aaron Miles decent game and we cruise past Bucknell and probably Wisconsin. I mean we lost to a decent team, they beat St Joes which has an NBA center, Pitt at Pitt which had Krauser, Troutman, and Taft and of course they beat us.

I also live in Arizona where Arizona plays by the way; not California), so why are you here.

Are you kidding me...this has to be one of the most idiotic things ever said. Uh come on I will let you figure out why Im here...*hint* my team plays your team Monday.

Okay you have to live in the state of the team you root for..... Moron.

You have a B(ill)S(elf) answer for everything; just like Anal Tooth, enfuego, KRJayhawk (what is the obsession with that Harry Potter-looking overachiever form Iowa) and all of the other KU myopians who show up here every to run your diarhea of the mouth. Were you guys out on the Bucknell board last March, the Rhode Island board in 98 or the Utep board in 92. It's funny, I don't see Arizona fans repeating the same circular logic on boards across the nation. Enjoy the Hi-Low and Bill Self, and we'll bid you farewell when you retreat back to the friendly confines of Phog.net where the average IQ is about 90 and they vote on whether or not creationism should be taught in schools. I hope you enjoy your beating on Monday; You and Bill Self deserve it. It's 11 on a saturday. What are you doing on the Arizona board. I am going out; peace out you pathetic hayseed

Wow, just wow.....the idiocy, everyone look at this beauty of a statement and look at what time he posted it.

First you make perhaps one of the if not the most retarded statements I have ever heard in saying that you have to live in the state of the team you root for then you drop this beauty....damn. You my friend are something else, one of a kind.

You just find a way to say sh_t out of your @ss time and time again, simply amazing.

I don't see Arizona fans repeating

I dont see other Arizona fans acting like you, speaking out of their @ss like you, or just saying some of the most moronic statements ever.

See there is a difference between you and the rest of the Arizona board, the rest of the posters can actually hold an intellectual hoops conversation without insulting the given posters program in every which way possible.

I mean how freaking hard is it to talk hoops without spouting all the lies and bs that you say? You should ask some of your fellow posters for some help on that because it's quite obvious that you lack that ability.

Nice montage.

I didn't know Salim and Channing will be playing in this game! We win in a walk over!! :dirk:

What a way to start the season, Kansas vs Arizona. How is that an opening round game of any tournament? That's just crazy...

Can't wait for Monday. Seems like they're doing a cut and past of late March and planting it smack dab in the middle of November!

God I love college basketball!

Yeah because 16 straight isnt that good? Kansas has been consistently good for our entire history, Zona has just been decent the last 15-20 years. You all are 19th all time in wins, we are 3rd. We invented basketball, so you should be thanking us you even have a team to pull for.

Well, let's end the "Arizona doesn't respect Kansas" rumour right now. Kansas is certainly one of the premiere teams in the country, without a doubt, and yeah, 16 straight visits to the NCAA's is proof of an excellent program. If you asked an Arizona fan to name the five best programs over the last 20 years, you would almost definitely hear Duke, Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky. However, with Connecticut's recent success, the huskies could knock Kansas off that perch soon- the Jayhawks are the only one of those teams not to win a title in the last 15 years.

Let me also display that Arizona fans know their basketball history - Basketball was invented by James Naismith in 1892, in a YMCA in Springfield, Mass. So no, ya'll didn't invent basketball, and no, we ain't thanking you for our program :D

We will thank you for 1997, though... ;)

Hopefully we'll still hear from you guys on Tuesday if we win. If ya'll win, well...we don't have anywhere else to go, so we'll still be here :D

KU fans say that because Naismith coached at KU for a while.
