Can Self Develop These Freshman?

Julian Wright, while an awesome athlete, will need a lot of development. Mario will get better just by having the ball in his hand and going against prime competition.

The real question is can Self develop these players? All his previous sucess has been with other people's developed players. To date it does not appear that any of the players on the KU squad recruited by Self have made much improvement.

Julian Wright will be interesting to watch and serve as a great measuring stick, because if Self can't develop that guy, he can't develop $hit.

Can't wait to see how many pros KU puts in the leage over the course of the next few years.

My guess is Rush is gone after the year, with Wright and Chalmers following one year later. Wright could go as early as this draft, though I'm not a supporter of such a notion, but many speak highly of the kid's potential.

Short answer is no, none of these kids will be maximized or even come close to being maximized by Self. They'll show just enough potential to get themselves to the NBA, then bolt.

Had Rush's jumper been falling during the camps, I doubt he's playing for them now.
