Still without their starting SF and PF, Jordan Farmar has a stress fracture in his foot, he's out a month.

Do they have any more tough non-conference games in the next month?

Nevada and @ Michigan. He may come back around New Years at the earliest, but I think its hard to imagine that he's back and ready to play at full strength (in game-shape) for Stanford/Cal and then @UA/ASU. This is really a tough loss for UCLA.

This is bad for what is already a weak Pac-10.
I think they can survive it though and come back strong when they get their most important pieces back...

Stress fractures are serious. That's something to be concerned about for a long time. They sometimes never fully heal.
I hope the time off works wonders. Pac needs UCLA and UCLA needs Farmar.
Was there anything that may have contributed to the fracture? Any fall? Awkward landings? Geez... 20 and already with the injuries of a 35 year old.

This could be a blessing in disguise. Collison gets to play and run the team, he should improve dramatically, Roll plays a lot more. Who knows, but it doesn't look serious.

Well, the best that I can put together the timeline is that he injured himself against Temple Nov. 17. He missed the Delaware State game two days later, but then played hurt in New York at the NIT Finals. They thought it was his ankle, but I guess tests done since they've come back west have indicated its the foot. Not a doctor, but I'd imagine that playing two highly competitive games on a stress fracture in your foot wouldn't help the problem much.

The injury needs rest. Nothing more. Keep off it. I sat through nearly three year of this with Tom Gugliotta. While the size and age of the players are very different, the injury doesn't typically care. It's not a rehab-required injury, so just take it wasy until it's completely healed. Otherwise, it's something that will continue to pop up throughout his career.
Nothing like serious foot injuries to scare off the NBA as well. He'll still be drafted, but it's in his and UCLA's best interests to keep him out until healthy.

It's not a blessing at all. This team has been hurt for the past 2 months and simply can't even practice with each other. Losing one starter might be a blessing in disguise, but losing possibly your 3rd starter is no blessing at all. Blessing? No. Curse? Yeah.

Look on the bright side...at least Howland will get a free pass for this year.

That really sucks. As much fun as I make of Farmar's giant ears, I really do respect and like him as a player.
I'm very interested to see what UCLA can do once they get back to full strength. I hope it's very soon.

Everyone will be back for the Pac 10, you should be strong come tourney time. All that matters is titles, right?

Huge loss for UCLA. I'm a big fan of Collison, but Farmar and Affalo are the kids who will determine the Bruins' fate this season. The only possible positive for UCLA is that this maybe keeps JF thinking about staying in school rather than jumping ship to the NBA after this season. Tough loss for the Bruins and it could be a crushing blow to their Pac Ten Title Chances If he misses Cal/Stanford and/or Arizona/Arizona St.
