Former Wildcat pitcher. (http://www.rotoworld.com)

Ben Diggins was taken by the Astros from the Brewers in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft.

Diggins, a former first-round pick of the Dodgers, has struggled to make it back from Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old had a 5.27 ERA in 13 2/3 IP for Single-A Brevard County last season. It's not likely that he'll contribute.

Injuries have done this guy in. Too bad.

Wow, I almost forgot about Ben.

He went to my highschool(Bradshaw Moutain) and I remember him pitching lightouts against everyone in our conference. He had the whole town going to the games. Wasn't he the Gatorade Player of the Year or something?

Anyways I have a card of him on the Brewers that I had him sign one time. Haven't seen him since though. It's too bad because you always want someone from your hometown(especially a WildCat) to make it big.

I would say getting picked up in the Rule V draft could be the best thing to happen for Ben.

He'll have to stay on the Astros 40 man all season, meaning they'll probably stash him for the first few months until he's completely healthy and then he'll immediately be a part of the big club. They have a financial interest in seeing him do well now and he'll work with the big league pitching coaches who will hopefully help him take that next step.
