damm. How many times has Zo been on the wrong end of VC this year?
This Nets-Heat game looks like it will be a good one.....5 point Heat lead, heading towards half.....Carter & Jefferson keeping the Nets in it.

& now VC is lighting it up in the 2nd half.
29 pts heading into the 4th.
Nets up 4.

Too much Shaq in the end & officials calling fouls if someone looks at Dwayne Wade cross-eyed.
Heat take a 2-1 series lead, despite 43 from VC

If UNC loses, it must be the refs' fault

Actually VC & Kidd had some costly turnovers late that sealed the game for Miami.
But Wade spent the entire 4th quarter at the FT line.....
Stop being such a little woman about everything, Itamic. Maybe when dook has a legitimate superstar player at the NBA level, we will listen when you try to chime in on conversations like these.
Until then, hold tight to your "But Elton Brand is pretty good!!!!" argument like your last dime.

Actually, Arizona fans and coaching staff are the ones who belong to an elite class all by themselves...No other school or school's fans *****, whine and cry more about the refs than Arizona's. Every game, it's always the ref's fault, there never is any acknowledgement that you actually lost to a better team.

An excerpt...
But the biggest choker in a white uniform was Vince Carter. Despite his Hall-of-Fame stat line — 17-34 FG, 3 assists, and 43 points — Carter was a dud in the endgame.
In the last four minutes of what was at the time a very close contest, Lawrence Frank decided to scrap New Jersey's motion offense, take the ball out of Jason Kidd's hands, and run various isolations and high screen/rolls for Carter. Here's what Carter produced:
One made and two missed layups.
A sweet turnaround-jumper, and a 19-foot pull-up that both made the net dance.
A drive that drew a foul and earned two free throws for Carter, who made them both.
Three turnovers, two of which were caused by Shaq's aggressive presence on the far side of screen/rolls. And two of which directly led to Miami scores on a fast break as well as an early-offense situation.
Total stagnation in the Nets' offense.
Kidd's lack of involvement caused him to lose his touch, and when he finally got a chance to do something, he short-armed an entry pass into a posted Jefferson. Another turnover that led to another Miami fast-break bucket.
During this most critical period of the game, Carter was in the driver's seat for nine possessions. He tallied eight points and made mistakes that enabled Miami to score four points. That's a net result of four points in nine go-to forays. Compare this with the 1.1 points per possession that NBA teams expect to produce.
In the last 90 seconds, with the game already lost, here's what else Carter did:
Made a tricky driving layup.
Missed two free throws.
Missed a layup.
Bagged a long 3-ball.
All of these latter deeds came too late to influence anything except the point spread.
Vince Carter didn't come through in the clutch? That doesn't surprise at least one observer. (Bill Kostroun / Associated Press)
The last perpetrator of the Nyets' folderoo was on New Jersey's bench: Lawrence Frank, who put the game in Carter's shaky hands, knowing full well VC's history of choking in the clutch during the money season.

What are you talking about? Elton Brand is a better player than Vince Carter, and the distance between the two is growing larger by the year.

Don't be silly.
Vince Carter is a marquee player. A superstar.
Elton Brand is one of the top PFs in the league right now, but he isn't Vince Carter, in terms of star power. He isn't dropping 43 in playoff games.....he doesn't put asses in the seats.
Elton Brand is a great player.....a top PF in the NBA.....but let's be serious here.

Carter may put ppl in the seats put he's nowhere near as valuable to his team as Brand is. In terms of starpower, Carter > Brand, in terms of everything else, Brand > Carter. It is pathetic though that the second best player from Duke right now is arguably Maggette? Maybe Deng?

Wrong...he was a superstar for about a year and a half, and then everyone realized he's just a freak athlete who doesn't play defense but sometimes gets hot from the outside.
You are right about Brand not dropping 43 in a playoff game, though...I mean, he only got 40 in Game 1 against Phoenix. But the difference between the two can be easily illustrated by comparing the two performances. Brand got his 40 with 9 boards and 4 blocks while only taking 22 shots. Carter got his 43 with 0 steals and 0 blocks...and he had to launch 34 shots to get it. Carter is just flash while Brand gets the job done. I'd take EB 10 times out of 10 on my team, and I'm guessing every GM and coach in the league would as well. The only people who respect Vince Carter's game are people in New Jersey and 12 year olds.

Carter makes me ill, he putzed around toronto like he wasn't the same after all the injuries and now he can air out and dunk on 7 footers just like old times.
I'd have to argue that Brand is at least approaching superstar status, especially now that the Clips are relevant (i.e. in the playoffs and winning some). He's accomplished more than KG...still it seems like the LESS you play for Duke the better you are in the NBA, maybe Livingston, Deng and Maggette can prove that point in a few years...
