Close the book on this game. If anyone needed a reality check this was it. The Cats have a long long way to go to compete with the upper tier teams.

Seriously im really lost.....Never thought that willie would fall like that and that our team would crumble. INterception, fumble, same play calls as BYU, letting them run on us. man oh man

i wonder if this just shows BYU how bad they really are
as for us we knew coming into this game in all reality we would go 2-2 to start the season.

Enosh,
2-2 is a lock to start the season. We will not beat USC.

This team is light years from being competitive, period. And not just against "upper tier teams." We're fundamentally unsound. Can't run, throw, catch, or tackle. The fans will have to endure a lot more suffering, folks. It just is. We're still looking at the "damage" from years of mismanagement, poor leadership, and second-rate recruiting.
As a paying fan for over two decades, I worry this 60-point loss could devastate the program ala Penn State did a few years ago. We were actually, relatively, on a bit of an "upswing."
Not now. This is an unfortunate, very bad moment in Arizona football history. On the good side, we now know that young Tuitama is probably not "the goods," and maybe we fans can lay off the "savior" talk.
This is going to be a very, very bad score. LSU will not let up. They will RUN IT UP as badly as they can, as SEC teams are notorious for doing. There's not a lot of hope for a moral victory today.

Hard to blame Tui when we can't block anyone. This loss won't kill the program.
I'm disappointed but I'm certainly not surprised about the results. Everyone was underestimating LSU all week, and now they are seeing the truth.

We're a year from being competitive. And Tuitama goes up against one of the best defenses in the nation in Death Valley as a young sophomore with a bad OL and you write him off? Patience, please.

Oh that's bullshi...t. A year away from being competitive was the battle cry last year. I certainly didn't expect us to win but I expected us to let LSU know they were in a game. We're playing scared. We're not even hitting anyone and the offensive line is going to get Tui killed.

Alot of people dont realilze LSU is ranked #8 only because of their road schedule this year. Alot in the LSU camp think this team is almost as good as our 03 NC team and is underated at #8. Auburn has been getting all the hype because their schedule is setup for an easier run, but it's highly doubtful they are better than LSU.
So case in point, I think alot underestimated how good LSU actually was. Arizona is not the same team we played in 03. I see speed on the field especially on your defense. You just need to get an OL before your QB get's decapitated.

You point out where I'm wrong, first. I said "fundamentally unsound." Point out to me how I'm wrong and I'll be glad to eat crow, friends.
I just saw an LSU guy break FOUR tackles while running east-west, and turns it into a 10 yard gain.
Four missed tackles on one play is very, very poor.

Now well see really how far we have come. We are only down by 3 touch downs which isnt "out of reach." Hopefully stoops can calm down willie and are O-line and i hope the o-coordinator comes back from is coffee break in time for the 2nd half.

I sure am glad that I aint paid for one ticket this year. Thank you Circle K and Arizona Athletics for the free home tickets. This team has individuals that suck ass and our O line is abominal, embarassing, pathetic and not worthy of going up against the likes of powerhouses like Catalina High. Willie T is not the "savior" that others hyped him up to be. I know this is only 2 games in but I am with Chuck D of Public Enemy when he said...."Don't believe the hype!" He will go down, I believe, as one of UA's better QBs but there is no way in Hades he will lead us to the Promised Land. I aint jumping off no bandwagon, just keepin' it real. Stoops needs to yank the whole O line right now and start all freshman. Hell, they can't play any worse than the starters. Willie T looks like David Carr out there, running for his life while that sorry ass O line parts like the Red Sea. How embarassing!! My final prediction....LSU-74, UA-6. Screw whatever prediction I made before. LSU is the real deal!

What, you didn't enjoy, for example, the run to the middle on 2nd and 20 against lsu's deeply penetrating line?
I thought it was an awesome play call myself. Oh, wait, the object isn't to lose yards....Heh my bad.

I kind of agree with you. Unless Canales decides to open up the playbook a little bit. How about a quick slant Canales?(you know like the 1 to Mike Thomas at OSU last year for a TD). When our O-line sucks you have to adapt with quick hitting routs. I am instead seeing outrouts and the occasional swing pass(actually a good thing). Canales's playcalling is the definition of vanilla. Same plays every game. Canales needs to show me something creative. Even if the O-line doesn't help much.

He's had over a year to prepare a good offensive line and get better backs. Everyone in Tucson understood this, but he didn't? -16 yards in rushing in the first half??? Canales job should be seriously looked at next year.

Don't we still have Heavner??? At least he has game expierence...
If it's true that a football team is only as good as its offensive line -- and it is -- this team is not good. This is the kind of game which is going to turn off recruits big time, I'm afraid.

09-09-2006, 09:07 PM
Yes, it is. Complete devastation and incompetence on national television ensures losing many potential recruits.
This has cost us our QB, our reputation as an "improving" team, and likely will hurt us at the gate.
We're right back where we were two years ago.
I can scarcely believe the fans are actually suggesting to bring Heavner back.
This situation is reprehensible.

We may very well have the worst rushing game in the nation after two games. Horrible.
I'm not writing Tui off, but he has looked bad this season. The offense so far has looked far better with Austin because he is actually getting rid of the football.
As much as we blame Canalas, the players are also not making plays. Makes a coordinator look really bad.

Just STFU. It hasn't cost us our QB or our rep. If we make a bowl this year, do you think this game will hold us back? Doubtful.
LSU is a f'n powerhouse and we were playing them in their backyard. Forget this game and move on. We can still beat the teams remaining on our schedule except for USC.

I'm a Devil fan, but seriously, you can't compare Austin's performance w/ Tuitama's. Tuitama went against the first team, and Austin is mopping up after the game has been determined. You have a good quarterback. He looks slower this year, and I'm wondering if all the weight he put on is a reason for that. Your offensive line is young, and your defense got down on themselves. Tough learning experience, but I think your QB still has a very good future.

From what I have read, you really cant take a positive from this game. I taped the game, but will not be able to watch it until Wed. Much like I said after the BYU game,,(and got harped on for being negitive and not happy with a win,,etc etc..) our offence is terriable and our defence needs to learn how to tackle.
As far as Tui...I have seen many a "savior" come and go at Arizona, he still has a long way to go,,,and pulling his redshirt last year didnt do a daym thing for our long term sucess. The good news is that he has the tools, and two + seasons to learn. The bad news is,,,after all of the hits he took today he may not remember enough to learn anything from this game.
The O line is a mess, anyway you look at it! I would guess by seasons end Heavener will play due to injuries to WT and AA. Unfortunatly there is no quick fix for an offencive line.
I still say 5-6 this year is a good guess, 6-5 if we catch a few breaks in a close game.

I agree. Although Canales should of started off with some easier bubble passes. Tuitama is way too nervous this year, and it is showing. It's like once he gets hit, his entire demeanor changes..His first pass was completely different than all his others.

Wow, you beat BYU by 3 points because BYU gave you the game. You are that bad. Yes, LSU is better than both BYU and Arizona, but come on, you guys got killed. FYI BYU 49 Tulsa 24. At least we showed up this week. Let's see how you do against inferior talent in SFA next week, the same team Tulsa killed last week. Loser!
Hey just remeber even if we loose the rest of the games we still beat BYU. Gave it to us or not We won BYU lost. Defense stuck their running game. Go back to your own forums
