Why has everyone turned on Chris? Just because he has declared for the draft and said it was because he didn't get enough pt doesn't mean cat fans should hate him. He realizes that he will be a freak at the combines and he can be making big bucks. He did not suck at the start of the year, our line was just terrible. He will probably get drafted because scouts are looking for athletes and I wish him the best of luck.

I agree with your sentiment, and I wish Chris the best as well, but it's easy to see why some UA fans feel jilted at the idea that just when CH was putting it all together and figuring things out, he bolts. Whatever, UA has enough RB depth for the new system that his loss won't be too big.

There were always be some fans that get nasty when players leave early but it seems like the whole board turned on him. Even with a bad contract the amount of money he could be making blurs any 21 year olds vision a little bit.

I for one wish him the best... but I do not like how he handled the situation. I understand that he has the potential to be drafted on day one... but say he is leaving because of PT, the new offense, or whatever; just say you are gone because of the opportunity to play in the NFL. How he handled the situation just lets me know that he is still a bit immature and maybe this is not the best decision for him at this point.

I think we, and I include myself in the "we", turned on him because he whined like a little ***** about playing time in his "exit interview".
If you're going to leave early, then do so with class. Speak only positives. Don't say, "I could have had numbers like in the Oregon game all year if they coaches would've let me play." {not really a quote but a paraphrase} Don't talk trash about a team that is struggling to turn the corner. Show some loyalty -- who knows? You might need some in return one day.
Don't rember who said it best (Chi maybe?), but he was lighting the proverbial bridge when he uttered those words.
He will not be forgiven.

It goes both ways. He was playing behind a terrible line and got benched for a walk on who had only had good runs against our 2nd team D, LSU's 2nd and 3rd teams, and SFA. The coaches showed him no loyalty, why should he return the favor?

He also fumbled 3 times in maybe 4 carries the year before. Would you have faith in him?

I don't agree at all. We have a number of backs but not one that really produced for us. Taking the O-line into consideration, thats understandable but I'm not really considering what we have "depth" right now.

He may be the best back that Arizona currently has. Did anyone ever consider the posibility that CH ran away from the competition? With Spring practice quicky approaching, CH may see the writing on the wall if he has to compete with X and TL at full strength.
When you boys get a chance, ask someone that attends practice and workouts if Terry Longbons is any good.

I'm with you FBjunkie. Big fan of TL.
BigO, what I meant is depth of talent, not experience. I think there's enough talent for someone to step up and be the man next year between the current roster and the verbal commits.

Fumbling can be fixed. Look at Tiki Barber this year, and Henry only fumbled 1 time this year as well. I dont think to mant people will be concerned with that.

Toatally agree. Coming out of the ASu game I was looking forward to seeing Henry back there. I thought he came on really well at the end of the year and had really great promise. But noone else on the roster can do that. I look at our RB situation the same way as last year, unknown. I loved what I saw from X, running wise, but he couldnt catch or block worth a damn. And I love what Im hearing about both Reese and Grigsby, especially Reese, but they are both still unproven.
I guess we have nice depth, in that we have a lot of good prospects, but they are still very unproven.
EDIT: I really need to start reading the whole thread before responding so that i dont just repeat what the person before me said.

I really doubt that. Maybe if our offense doesnt change much, but if we go to an offense similar to TT, then Henry is the perfect back for that (which is a big if. man I hope we are still atleast 50/50). He had the BEST hands on our team last year and he is at his best when he is in space going one on one.
As for Longbons, I went to a few practices and all the scrimmages, and I dont really recall seeing him much at all. Handful of carries at the most. The oly practices that were open were the ones during fall camp though, so Im sure he has gotten better since then. I have been looking forward for him to be 100% and pushing for time.

Terry Longbons will never have meaningful carries in his career here...

Man, I don't think we have anywhere near the proven depth at runninb back, and have not for some time, to blithely wave goodbye to CH.
I am kind of pissed he is leaving, but I don't have any illusions about "loyalty" for someone like Chris - I can see where he is coming from, even while I think he is simply wrong.
I said back when the board was singing the praises of Jennings that if he was the "answer" then we were in trouble. And I think I was right. This is Arizona football - we do not have anywhere close to the ability to replace a talent like Henry easily. This isn't Gilbert Arenas leaving while there is a crowd of top flight guard talent itching for his spot.
Henry, after quite a bit of a struggle, has (had) established himself as Arizonas back. I sure hope we forget about him soon, but I am afraid we will not. Here's to being wrong...
I like Longbons and thought when we got him he was going to be a stud. Still could happen but you have to wonder, injuries aside, why he hasn't broken into the two deep yet.

Henry has a beastly chiseled frame and tremendous speed to the edge and in the open field. But the man had absolutely no ability to create space, make a cut, or change direction - which is why he was nowhere near the running back that you would expect him to be when considering his strength & speed. He looked virtually incapable of juking a capable defender... in fact I don't remember seeing him do it once in his time here.
As for the folks that say we're loaded at runningback, either I hope you know something the rest of us don't, or I want to smoke some of what's in your pipe.
Yes our O-line was young and ineffective, but Henry and Jennings were pedestrian at best. While I had high hopes for X and TL when they committed here, if they were not capable enough to earn at least a reasonable number of carries last season, I would hardly say that RB is a bright spot for next year's team.
Let's instead divert our discussion to the other side of the ball... the returning players on defense... the studs we've recently signed or are still in on... etc.

He might not have been able to juke them but he certaonly threw themto the ground by their heads and then becuaseof his speed outraneveryone else.

i think if henry goes to the right NFL system he would be fine. i still think he should stay one more year because he finally figured out you can run over everyone.. good luck chris..
