I have neither the time nor the cred to do a full scale breakdown of the matchups; I'll leave that for the Bruin fans.

But based on what I've seen of both teams, UCLA 74, KU 72.

Both teams are loaded with talent, but Howland's the superior coach.

My bad, should have put this in the Arch-Rivals forum.

Do you really think UCLA can slow down KU this much? Or are you being facetious?

Wow you must have it going into triple overtime. :)

No clue here.. reminds me a lot of last year's Elite Eight, except Kansas is a little more talented, but also young. UCLA hasn't played anyone good in the tournament yet, but it has a tough road now (assuming it beats Kansas and Florida makes the Final Four).

It should be less painful than the Pitt game, but I guess you never know.

I think Self is a garbage coach and Howland is going to come up with a very good game plan that he'll have no answer to. Kansas plays great d but their offense is non existant besides NBA talent trying to overpower you. UCLA's offense may be painful to watch, but there's at least a plan of attack and semblance of structure. This is going to be a dirty game. Both teams foul every play. I'm predicting the over / under of player technicals at 2. There will be hard fouls and retaliation by both squads. Get ready for Pat Riley - NY Knick thug basketball at its finest.

It has to be less painful than the Pitt game. My God, Dixon could have used Radenovich last night. A serviceable big man who actually converts layups. Gray just didn't bring it.

The key for KU is to get the Bruins back on their heels, which isn't easy to do. The Jayhawks need to impose a fast tempo and make the Bruins run a little. UCLA can play at this pace, but not as well as Kansas can.

It should be a very close game. Bruins win by a few.

Looking for it to be a close game either way.

KU is worn down from SIU and Afflalo is due a big game. Not good for the Hawks.

Afflalo was due for a big game last tourney too and never had it...

Kansas will literally throw this one a way! UCLA defends like its life depend on it and they ARE NEVER out of the game because of it.

Collison and Afflalo lights up the young Jawhawk guards and the bigs hold their own.

UCLA 73-66 Too much UCLA toughness

Big edge to Ben Howland over Self but Kansas can be awfully scary when they are on their game.. Self is 0-3 in the elite 8, just a gut feeling that he finally breaks through.

I originally picked UCLA when the bracket first came out but I think Kansas takes this one. UCLA looks out of sorts offensively and they will need to score points against KU.

Self will blow it against Florida in the Final Four.

Whenever there's a prediction thread involving good defensive teams, I always laugh to myself and think about all of my (silent and wishful) predictions for last years' football games. It was always us shutting down the opposition and Nick Folk making a last second field goal to win 3-0. That being said:

UCLA: 3
KU: 0

Nick Folk is that good. He transcends sports, schools, whatever.

I pretty much agree. Collison/Afflalo/Shipp, despite their lessened productivity as of late, remains a formidable trio. And Mata's been playing out of his mind. It's really amazing what the UCLA coaches have done with him.

How good is it to be a UCLA fan right now? They're on the brink of a second straight Final Four, and they're almost a shoo-in for preseason #1 next season, depending on which players at other schools stay or leave. If Oden stays, OSU is #1.
