I like your draft except for the few thoughts below:
You drafted Frank Gore when you could have had one of Tomlinson, Jackson, or Johnson
You drafted Marc Bulger instead of a 2nd back or wide receiver
You took Jon Kitna before your 2nd back
You waited until the 6th round to pick a 2nd back
You took 1 too many defenses and 1 too many kickers
I'm glad you like it, though.

No I got pick 3 Tomlinson And Jackson Were gone
There wasnt a top 10 back left when i picked. The 1st 6 and 9 out of 10 picks were Hb
Jon Kitna was the 2nd Qb on the board to begin with, I couldnt pass on him with QB value decreasing
I agree with you there but like i said a lot of the quality was gone
I needed backups and got them with some of my last picks

Tomlinson and Jackson were gone, so you turned down the consensus #1 from last year? Why not Larry Johnson?
Doesn't matter if there is a top 10 back with your 2nd pick - take a top receiver then, and take a back with the 3rd pick. There's little difference at that point between QBs, but a huge drop in quality amongst receivers and backs.
Kitna shouldn't be 2nd on anyone's board, ever.
Instead of those extra worthless players, take flyers on guys who could explode. Anything is better than backup kickers. You never need a backup kicker.
If you post the rest of your draft it would be easier to show you exactly where you went wrong.

A few things scared me on LJ
1. The chiefs have no QB so the d will Q on LJ
2. Cheifs are a bad team which means they should be down a lot which in turn means they will throw more, especially in a tough division like the AFC West
3. He got 416 Carries last year. that should affect him a little bit, also missing a lot of training camp.
I wanted to get a top flight QB and bulger i thought was a top 3 QB and id rather have that then a laurence maroney, Plus CJ was gone so I got Steve Smith Next anyway

You realize that Bulger probably would have been available coming back with the 3rd round pick?
He's Larry Johnson...he doesn't need training camp. The Chiefs offense won't be that much worse than it was last year.

Yes Plus Priest im sure will take a few carries. It was just unproven. I like frank gore in a weak division as well as Bulger in the same weak division also playing indoors.

I'd take a flyer on someone like James Jones the rookie then ever pick a 2nd Kicker.. There is no reason for that.. ever.. and two defenses? You can get more points out of a solid player than you'll ever get for a backup defense..

Ok this is the draft i was talking about. 16 rounds I got pick #3 out of 12 People.
List is in order:
RBs Frank Gore, Caddy, Jamal Lewis
QBs Marc Bulger, Kitna
WRs Steve Smith, Donald Driver, Reggie Brown, Derrick Mason, Kevin Curtis
TEs Chris Cooley, Owen Daniels
Ds Philadelphia D, Carolina D
K David Akers, Jason Hanson
I think this is a pretty strong team tho you could be a little weak at RB. I don't see NOT taking LJ at 3 as a problem, because I agree that he has bust written all over him w/the holdout, lack of preseason prep, FAT new contract and 416+ playoffs carries last year. Just one of those would scare me to drop him a spot or 2, but ALL together? I'll be amazed honestly if he finished top 10, so why pick him top 3? Your QBs are solid, WRs are stacked I think your top 3 are all easily top 15 material.
Carrying 2 D's if you have plenty of space isn't a bad idea, esp if everyone else does, then if you don't the WW D's are pretty slim pickins, but again ONLY if you have a large enough bench that it's not at the cost of losing a solid RB or WR backup. I've played in leagues w/large benches where everyone but me had 2 D's and when mine had a bad matchup or was on bye it was pretty sh!tty! You don't need 2 K's, K's are a dime a dozen, if necessary you can pick up a 2nd for 1 week if you don't want to put yours on waivers. I'd say you don't need a 2nd TE either but if you have space...
My only priority would be to try and find another RB, but if you only start 1 + flex etc its not a problem. If you start 2 or 2+flex it could get scary, esp since both Caddy and Lewis are semi-unknowns.

Rule # 1 of Fantasy Football: Do not pick a kicker until the final round of your draft. The fact that you not only picked a kicker in the 11th round, you compounded that mistake with taking a 2nd kicker the following round.
Terrible Draft.

It doesn't matter where you pick, by and large, the order for picking a fantasy team is...
RB
RB
WR
QB
RB
WR or TE
WR or TE
Def or QB
Def or QB
upside
upside
upside
backup Def
backup TE
Kicker
You upside picks can negate the following backup picks, but you should always get two top-25 backs, if not three, and then build around that.
Gore is very good for yardage, but he's a good bit fragile, so unless he busts one, he's not going to score too many touchdowns. Johnson is far more reliable in both yards, health and scores.
I like Bulger as your QB ALOT, but picking him second was a HUGE reach.
You already demonstrated that a solid QB like Kitna who has great weapons and who's likely going to have to throw more than his team runs could be had much later.
Smith and Driver are very good receivers, so not much to complain about there, but having your 2nd and 3rd backs be Williams and Lewis could hurt your.

Thanks for the criticism and the help on things. it actually has changed my mind on a few things. to hit on a few points
-Everyone in our league has a backup D And K
-
The way the draft was going dealing with a lot of idiots, i doubt Bulger was gonna be availible at next pick. Cedric Benson was the 3RD! pick in the 2nd round, and Antonio Gates was a 1st round selection. I wanted to get him right there I thought guys like kitna and other top ten QB would be off the board if i let him slide and i would be stuck with a guy like JP Losman at starter.

Very solid I think for a 16 team draft, not spectacular, but solid. Nice depth at RB (Cadillac will be back and is underrated this year), and good value with Jamal Lewis where you picked him.

I disagree. He has a number of very good backs, the best quarterback in the game, 1 stud receiver and a few guys who can contribute...I'd easily take his team over yours.

I too think your dad's team is pretty good, very solid with nice depth at all key positions (Assuming Peyton Manning, not Eli).

Most fantasy football leagues are won by the RB's.
You do not have 2 RB's, you have 1. I would have taken a RB in the 2nd round, if not then, then I would have at least taken a RB in the 3rd round. You took 2 WR's and a back up QB before you got your 2nd rb. Thats bad.
Edit: I like your dad's draft as well, he has 2 starting RB's, and a great QB.
