Terry Francona grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He got his start in baseball at New Brighton, Pennsylvania High School.

He is a UofA guy, I have heard stories of him and Pedroia going back and forth.
Brad Mills is the Sox bench coach and he played with Terry at the UofA and I believe his kid recently did as well.

This is pretty cool.
I'm not a big baseball fan (unless the Dodgers are in the playoffs)
Can anyone tell me any other U of A former players in the play offs?

Francona needs to wear a uniform. I think it looks bad when managers do not wear a realy uni while on the field.

you missed the big fuss about the non uni deal, right?
he has some sorta skin condition where if he wears short sleeved uni's, his skin dries out or some sorta thing. during the yankee's/sox series the umpires pulled him outta the dugout and did a uni check on him, he flipped out.
he wears his uni, underneath this pullover.

Not sure about all the coaching staffs, but I'm pretty sure Kenny Lofton's the only player. Did he play baseball at UA?

I heard about his uni thing but didn't catch the whole thing. So he wears a long sleeve pullover and then his uni underneath and then another shirt under that?
He didn't have a problem with it when he was a player or when he wears a short sleeved pull over.

Francona left just before my freshman year at the U. Those afternoon bb games were awesome for geology freshmen... took your mind off of the books!
There was gunpowder in the air. It was late April 1997, no outs in the fourth inning, and Phillies starter Curt Schilling had already given up three home runs to the Reds at Cinergy Field. After each home run, the Reds set off a barrage of fireworks, which left a thin layer of smoke. Terry Francona emerged from the dugout. Schilling protested.
"You're not taking me out of this game," Schilling said.
"Oh, I'm not out here to take you out," Francona said. "I just wanted to give the fireworks guy a rest."
He's not just one of the "Good guys", he's one of the "Great guys!" I always root for him, until Melvin and the D-Backs match up with him!

Same name, but no. They're not related. That Brad Mills graduated last year and is now in the Blue Jays organization.
