OK we are moving on from our feel good victory against the Dawgs. Lets hope Stoops and the coaches get them focused for this one. I think we win this one in the "who's going to get there coach fired league"
AZ 2-0 (Wins over Doba, Willingham)
UCLA 1-1
WSU 1-1
Wash 0-2
Stoops pads his resume:
AZ 38
UCLA 24

I think a more relevant question is: does anyone want to try to compete against UCLA for the best available coaching candidate?

We should know a lot more about how this game is going to go on Monday when the injury report comes out for UCLA. As it stands right now, UCLA looks to be without its two best offensive players, and other than Bruce Davis, its two best defensive players. Press conference tomorrow should clear a few things up. Besides that, this is a game I figured UCLA would lose one way or the other, but that was only because I thought they wouldn't be able to go two straight weeks without losing to a seemingly inferior opponent...and then Wazzu happened, so who knows?

UCLA pays sh!t for their football coach. Dorrall and Mike Stoops are $16K apart in salary, $881K to $865K. Assuming both schools go to $1.2M for the next coach, where do you think you can live better? And a lot less pressure at Arizona, esp. after what Stoops and Mackovic have done to the program.
So sure, UCLA is a more premier school in athletics and academics, but there is more to coaching than prestige.

Coaches coming into UCLA also have the very serious concern of not being able to recruit all the players most other programs can. When trying to build a championship-quality team that's actually a major obstacle and the main reason along with the lack of money that the UCLA job isn't as attractive as it may appear on the surface.

Injuries: Two big ones.
Tailback Kahlil Bell, the Bruins' leading rusher, suffered what was called a sprained knee. He was to undergo an MRI today.
Wide receiver Brandon Breazell, the closest thing the Bruins have to DeSean Jackson, has what is called multiple rib contusions. He will undergo more tests this week.

Seems serious..
Injury update: Dorrell said Bell would undergo tests today, including an MRI, to determine the damage done to his right knee, which he injured in the first quarter. Sources said UCLA believes the injury is serious, and could keep him out the rest of the regular season.
"He does feel like there's some laxity in there, so we definitely want to see what that is," Dorrell said.

Bell is done for the rest of the season. I believe I read somewhere is was an ACL. I found the report:
Bell done
Posted by Brian Dohn at 6:18 PM
The results of an MRI show that UCLA running back Kahlil Bell has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He injured the knee in the first quarter of last Saturday's game at Washington State. Surgery will be scheduled after the swelling in his knee subsides.
Obviously, he is done for the season, and likely will not be ready for spring practice.

Not sure if I should post premium thread comments in an "in-game", but...
One issue Adam Hawes mentioned in a thread was Stoops (last season and this season) had the team incredibly tight at the begining of the season. After they were out of it last season, he let go of the reigns and didn't "over coach" (aka, get on their butt for every minor thing). Then, when they won and had a chance to go to a bowl game - he reverted back to his old self before the ASU game.
Same thing is season... they lose early playing like crap. The season is basically over... and now we play loose again

A head coach is responsible for a variety of things...
- Recruiting - above average to great
- Game prep - poor

- Game management - very poor
- Leadership - very poor
- Hiring a staff - very poor (considering he has already canned an OC and now people think he should can the DC)

You can't run a quick play if the officials don't mark the ball ready for play, which they hadn't before they heard from the booth. The radio guys made it sound like they were dragging their feet on that because they expected to hear from the booth.

How is it possible to reverse a play that probably should not be reversed? If there is doubt then you stick with the original call.
I know it shouldn't be this way, but I bet what happened was that because the ref couldn't see what happened, he just had to make a call one way or the other, and then they figured, "hell, we'll just let the booth make the decision rather than just checking to see if it should be reversed." *shrug*
