from the Seattle Times guy...
7, Arizona --- Their early losses to BYU and New Mexico ended up not looking quite as bad.
My rankings would probably be the same except for Stanford;
1) USC
2) Oregon
3) ASU
4) OSU
5) Cal
6) Ucla
7) Cats
8) Stanford
9) Wazzu
10) UW

UNM went 9-4 a good season. BYU defeated UCLA twice.
Maybe that was not such a terrible loss afterall?
But hindsight we clearly should have beaten them at home. We will get them next year.

BYU defeated UCLA once, with UCLA playing without a coach and with a walk-on quarterback on a last-second blocked kick.

We lost to BYU in our first game with the spread, against a team who runs it pretty well (their defense gets to practice against it). I'll give our guys a pass on that one.
But the New Mexico game, no matter what their record was, should have been a W. Same goes for Stanford. Those are two losses that absolutely should not have happened, and no excuses should ever be made for them.

The loss to BYU is the same. That team isn't that talented.

which is exactly why they won their conference and won 11 games

The BYU game I can understand losing, but the New Mexico game is inexcusable. We should have never lost to that team at home.
