I said it before and I'll say it again. Mackovic is a jerk. Coaching is all about team building. Has he built a team? Has he shown respect to a player who has earned his respect on the field (Farmer)? Has he treated lesser players with respect? Anyone who answers either question "yes" doesn't know what he/she is talking about. When he is gone, the horror stories will come out. Wait and see.

Yeah, there is just so much to respect about Farmer getting a personal foul called for spiking the ball.

Mucho Respect Clarence...class move.

I personally thought it was a wussy flag, its not unsportmanlike but I guess it is worse then going to high 5 a fan and the guy got flagged

I think Farmer was letting a season and a halfs worth of frustration out on the football. You can't really blame the guy.

I don't blame him that much. I also feel it was just a way for him to get frustration out...but that is what a lot of penalties are. It ultimately cost us a point.

The point meant absolutely nothing to the game, but the 15 yards would have been enough for Bobby Gill to not miss and most likely not trash his confidence any further.

He should have just tossed the ball to the official and ran back to the bench and sat down. It is called leading by example, and he did a piss poor job of it.

Referees did a piss poor job on the call, I may have fallen asleep but when they scored and got the personal foul they got the yards on the kick off, they made Gill kick a 18 yarder.. I might have been too drunk though.

its the opposing teams decision to enforce the penalty on the extra point or the kickoff!!!!

It cost us a point, whoop-de-do! If you said it cost us about 46 points, then you have a reasonable point! We got rolled on and the game was over before it began. No need to ***** about little stuff like that.

Thanks for at least waiting until we got our first loss to trash Coach Mackovic. No one seemed to have a problem last week after we dominatingly won! I am so sick of people trashing him - people who have no clue about coaching or about the real personalities of the people on the team or the coaching staff. Saturday night there were chants and yells about how bad he is, but I don't see any of those people applying for his job. Has he built a team? Yes. I agree that they could use more unity, but as far as the players that he recruited, he has. Farmer is not his recruit. He is, the best runningback we have, and he'll soon prove it to Coach. How is it that the University of Arizona fans, who don't even fill a medium-sized stadium, have less patience than say, Notre Dame, a football school? If I remember correctly, Bob Davie was given his 5 years (or at least 4) to bring his first class of recruits up to upperclassmen. Coach Mack has been here for two years and 2 games. Give him a break, PLEASE! Just lay off the Mack-bashing. It doesn't do any good and just brings down the team. Unless your name is Tyrone Willingham, Lou Holtz, Bob Stoops, Joe Paterno, or have the last name of Bowden, just spend your energy cheering positively for out Cats and not yelling at Coach.

I agree firstdowngrl. Coach Mac needs his recruits to move through the system before we can truly judge the quality of his teams. I think better decisions could be made throughout the games though. Certainly LSU is about as good a barometer as UTEP. We basically know we're somewhere between terrible and high quality.

I'm interested to see how this year pans out. Super tough schedule (top 5 in the nation I thought I read). I know we also thin in terms of depth too. Difficult to say that the coach is screwing it ALL up. I for one find this brand of offense more interesting then the ole Tomey "up the middle 4 times in a row-couldn't be more predictable" style.

I'm willing to evaluate at the end of this season, see who we recruit next year, then step back and decide if we're gonna be in a winning position for awhile. I know if next year isn't a fairly strong season, we'll see changes. Till then, lets see how we progress.

.....reread my post. I said it before...Mackovic is a jerk, I didn't wait until the first loss. Secondly, you gotta be kidding comparing him to Lou Holtz, etc. Also. this mantra about waiting until his recruits mature, is baloney. Are you saying he was left with so little he was forced to take a licking from LSU? LOL

this is not the first whooping we have taken under Mackovick. This was not Macks first game. Macks first recruiting class are now juniors. And frankly, of the Mackovick players, I dont see one as being a potential super-star or future NFL guy, do you? Lamon Means maybe if he gets wayyy better? I know Ealy has physical ability, but he has to perform on the field, and our receivers looked lost and scared, far from future stars.

I think if you had been paying attention, you would know that Mack bashing is not new. Do you remember a small mutiny llast year that involved 50 players? mackovick crying on national TV? U of A finishing in last place in the PAC 10? U of A NEVER winning a Pac 10 game under mack to-date? No?

i hope i am wrong and this has just been a horrible dream! Somebody wake me up and tell me we are 2-0, the defending Holiday Bowl Cahmps and Farmer is leading the Nation in rushing and a contender for Heisman!!!

I think you comparison is hilarious. Bob Davie took Notre Dame to a BCS bowl (the fiesta against Oregon State) the year BEFORE he was fired. So he had some success and then was gone. The ND fans put up with no losing. In fact Davie had just signed another 5 year contract before the 2001 season. Notre Dame is still paying him NOT to be Head Coach. Your coach has done nothing. Furthermore, Mac has a history of getting blown out in big games. Remember his Texas team with Ricky Williams and crew got beat 66-3 against UCLA. He has no idea how to stop the momentum of the other team. If he did not get lucky and have James Brown hit the Tight End on a forth and one Texas would not have won a Big 12 championship. Mac wanted Brown to run, but he threw it anyway. If I were a UA fan I would want something to change because obviously what is going on now is not good.
