Yeah! If only Livengood fired Lute, Candrea and Lopez, and hired Dennis ****ing Erickson, we'd be set.

Define "sucks".
Notice the sports they point to in the article -
1. Got swept in basketball. Ok, do you want to fire Lute? Livengood canned our women's coach to take care of that problem.
2. ASU baseball has been ranked #1 (note that they're not #1 this week). You want to fire Lopez?
3. ASU softball has been ranked #1. You want to fire Candrea?
4. ASU football has been beating us. Would you have hired Dennis Erickson?

Presumably you would not criticize 3 years later when Erickson gets pushed out and leaves the program on probation?
Yeah! If only Livengood fired Lute, Candrea and Lopez, and hired Dennis ****ing Erickson, we'd be set.
1. Well, Livengood could nip this KO situation in the bud and help the program. Or he actually could have supported the HOF coach that saved his ass a few years back and perhaps maybe we'd be in a better situation with the hoops program.
2. Softball will be fine, we're usually always a bit down when Candrea does the Olympic thing. Maybe ASU's coach wants to take over those responsibilites? Nothing JL can do here, nor should he as we're still a top 5 program if not top 3.
3. Lopez is solid but no world-beater, not exactly the what a program with multiple National Titles in a regional area that breeds baseball excellence should accept. And let us not forget that we would be in this situation had Livengood not botched the Kindall transition that relegated us from an elite program to also-ran status that Lopez is still trying to get us back to.
4. Stoops is a walking, fuming, anger-management punchline who can't coach football to save his life. That he was allowed to run the program this year and torpedo another two recruiting classes which will inevitably take our next coach additional 1-2 years to recover from is an absolute embarrassment. The whole situation with the football program completely falls on Livengood whether it's the trainwreck in the classroom, the players and coaches behavior off the field, or the dismal play on Saturdays. And you point to Erickson, well they were kicking our ass before that with freaking Dirk Koetter so your point there doesn't really apply.
And since the subject is ASU, let's also mention that ASU Athletics is beating us right now in the classroom and is getting donations and facilities locked up that leave us in the dust. ASU is absolutely kicking our tail right now while Livengood apologists, Tucsonans with their head in the sand who don't read anything that hails from outside Pima County, and those with the infamous UofA battered-wife syndrome wail on about how we cannot do any better. It really is a sad situation which nobody seems to want to rectify except by dismissing it as cyclical or coincidental.

Livengood lies.
In the article last week he stated he evaluates the coaches at the end of the season.
Basketball this year - he tried to give the program to KO without waiting to see how he did.
Football this year - stated MS would be back before the ASU game no matter what happened against ASU.
Football the year before - stated changes will be made in the middle of the season (Arizona then beat @WSU Cal @Oregon).

Agree 100% with what LK is saying here, only to add that there's no way in H-E-L-L I would hire Dennis Erickson, and that publicly praising a post to me carries more weight than the rep that I tried to give LK but have to spread around first anyway.

1.) Disagree on the first part, I think a bit of patience is the right tact, but I agree with you on the second part of this statement.
2.) Agree.
3.) Disagree to the extent that I think Lopez is a good hire (agree that Stitt turned out to be a bad hire but also one that was hard to avoid) who has done well here (a CWS appearance is nothing to sneeze at), and this particular season, while disappointing to an extent, is far from over.
4.) First paragraph is debatable - I think Stoops can "coach", I'm not sure he is a "head coach", but that he deserved this season to turn the corner and shape up, or ship out if things don't improve this season. I totally disagree with the idea that he has torpedoed recruiting in any fashion. he's done quite well all things considered, and if he's replaced after this season, the new coach will have a full cupboard of groceries to cook the new meal. I also think that their's plenty of blame to go around on the academic issues, from Mackovic, to C.A.T.S, to Livengood, to the players themselves, but that these problems have been addressed, and that Livengood deserves some of the credit for solving these problems.
I wholly disagree with your second (& last) paragraph of #4. I spelled out why in another thread on the same ESPN story, and I believe you are entirely selective in your comparison of UA & ASU's athletic departments. I only add that you are placing too much emphasis on this year and letting your disappointment get carried away.

I don't really like Livengood but Az has just won 3 national championships in the last 12 months. The best in our history. It might have been 4 if a couple of gals didn't hit the bricks and one turn pro in women's golf. Carry on.

Ask 100 people in Tucson at the Wal-Mart on 22nd and ask them to name a single national championship the UA won over the last 12 months. I imagine 5will know softball, but 1 or less knows the other 2. And which of those coaches were hired by Livengood? Busch is 18 years at Arizona. Candrea 22 years. Livengood was where then? WSU?

4. Yes!!!!!!!!
Eff that.
Erickson is perfect for ASU, a low class scumball coaching a low class lowest common denominator school for that masses.
Why in the hell would we want him here? I'll take Stoops, thank you very much.
