Being realistic, considering his UofA Tucson ties, I'd like to see...
PAT HILL

For winning his conference games by an average score of 51-13 last year....for leading his team to a #12 national ranking last year....for being only 42 years old.......for leading the nation in scoring offense......for putting up a better record than Koetter even though Koetter played in the awful Big West.......for recruiting all of Koetters athletes.........for winning 14 games in a row.....

For everyone deserving a second chance, especially when you only mess up once in nearly 60 years on earth.
MIKE PRICE
And for giving a man his deserved opportunity and chance...
RICKY HUNLEY
And finally, for "look what he did with David Carr"...

Are you serious about McGinnis? He couldn't teach monkeys how to throw their own crap.

Pat Hill.
The *ties* are solid, the connections are firm and there is no 'riff-raff' to deal with. He has also built a name for himself in of all places: Fresno, CA.
If he can do that there, he can do it here - in spades!
But I would still like to see what Hankowitz can do..

To Hire:
1. Dan Hawkins- Proven winner at a Mid Major
2. Mike Stoops- Great Defensive Coordinator, recruiter and Great Bloodlines
3. Randy Shannon- Great young Defensive Coordinator of Canes
4. Mike Price- Needs to be forgiven for a mistake. Biggest drawback is his age.
5. Ricky Hunley- A true Wildcat and a a fine man. Lack of Coordninator or HC job is disturbing.
6. Pat Hill- Was a lousy OC here under Tomey, but turned out to be a great head coach. Is getting up in years.
7. Urban Meyer- If he could be persuaded to leave Utah after one year, he'd be quite a coup.
8. Jeff Tedford- If JL is really serious, he should throw a boatload of money to pry this excellent coach out of Berkeley.
9. Gary Patterson- A fine coach for the Frogs who just beat the outmanned UA.
10. Tom Craft- Another non-BCS head coach who is doing a bang up job reinventing SDSU.
People Not To Hire:
1. Rick Neuhisel- This guy is trouble and a rule breaker. He's too smart to claim ignorance
2. George O'Leary- His mistakes were those of integrity. He's a complet fraud.
3. Steve Axman- This guy is a terrible OC and was a mediocre HC. Anyone else notice UCLA's awful offense this year.
4. Bob Toledo- This is a joke. Right?
5. Norm Chow- A career assistant who is not a top flight recruiter.
6. Rich Ellerson- Anyone else uninspired about the prospect of a Tomey clone returning. The same applies to Duane Akina.
7. Dave McGinnis- Couldn't win with or without talent for Cards.
8. Mike Hankawitz- The UA needs young, fresh ideas. And zero ties to Mackovic.
9. Mike Leach- Does not know the meaning of the words defense or running game.
10. June Jones- Like Mike Leach, has no concept of how to coach defense or a running game. The run and shoot never wins anything.

My picks:
1. U. Meyer (was just at the CSU v. UTAH game and that guy does a lot with very little real talent)
2. M. Stoops (recruting ties, young and experienced)
3. B. Hawkins (ditto + offensive mind)
4. R. Hunley (Wildcat blood and energetic--but a bit green)
5. G. Patterson (good all-around coaching talent)
NO on Price and Neuheisal, or O'Leary for that matter.
Bear Down!

I agree 99% with Auercat. I would switch Stoops and Hawkins and I disagree on Dave MacGinnis. Mac is a very solid coach...the problem is Bidwell wont give him anything to work with. He is the single most underrated and overused coach in the NFL today. I truly feel sorry for him, because of the Bidwells, everyone has your perception of him and that is just not right.

Since Mike Price is definitely out...
and since being impressed with Greg Hansen's column...
I think it's not too soon...
the job should be offered to Ricky Hunley.

Likins said they want a squeaky clean guy... doesn't sound like Neuheisel. He should be removed from anyone's wish list for this reason. Not that you needed that to be a reason to remove him.
Stoops, Hawkins, or Hill. No unproven head coach or coordinators like Hunley. No inherited programs coach like Brandon at BGSU.

1. Ricky Hunley: No HC experience? So what? You have to start somewhere.
2. Pat Hill: my man Eric "Goont" Johnson's favorite coach at 'zona.
3. Rich Brooks: remember when this guy was considered a top-flite Pac-10 coach? Still can be.

I like Bob Pruett from Marshall. He has been a winner where ever he has gone. His age (60) is the only concern I have.
