Now that GOAZCATS has narrowed down the coaching candidates to Steve Spurrier, Butch Davis, and Steve Mariucci, I was just wondering if someone could set up a poll showing who Cats fans want out of this three headed monster. Also, was wondering when the Arizona Football Head Coaching Position became the premier job in Division 1 football. I mean, they have made leaps in bounds making this job more appealing than Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio St., Miami...........

You have to remember, Dill, when Lute retires, it was agreed that Lutes replacement would be:

* Phil Jackson
* John Wooden
* Pat Riley

Dill, you've clearly figured out that the Arizona football head coach, in terms of level of prestige, is somewhere between St. Mary's Jr. High School girls flag football assistant coach, and batboy for Tucson school for the blind.

Yeah I thought that the Arizona Football coaching job was reserved for the Silver Medalist in the Arizona Special Olympics? With the winner obviously getting the Governorship.

No offense Mr. Napolitano.

by jove,

which stoops argument are you referring to? the guy who said zona could lure Bob away?

when you said that Mike Stoops would never be interested in sh*tty program like Arizona.

also, mack brown has won more games in his career than Arizona over the last 40 years. He must be terrible

Chris Bonney

How many wins does Mack Brown have?

Tomey won 95 games here just in his 14 years. Throw on Smith's 48, Mackovic's 10 and we are over 150 wins. Brown aint there yet bud.

Chris Bonney

Brown has 138 wins in 20 years of coaching so far. Not one big one to speak of too.

That is a similar pace that Tomey was on man. What is your deal dill? Stop talking out your dumb Tejas Arse man.

by jove,

I never called Arizona a ****ty program. I just said no way on Mike Stoops. I think Zona will get a good coach and when people post realistic candidates like Mike Price or O'Leary I don't laugh at them. Im making fun of the posters, not the University. Some guy posted on a UT site that they UT should get Marvin Lewis. I told them the same thing i'm telling you. are you out of you f-ing mind. no chance. Mark my words people ARIZONA WILL NOT GET MIKE STOOPS. VEGAS ODDS ON THIS WOULD BE 1,000 TO 1.

RCF,

I was overstating for effect. Brown has a preety damn good record and no, Arizona could not get him either. Not b/c Arizona is a bad school, b/c right now he makes Mack's and Olsen's salaries all put together.

We could probably actually afford him, but why, even if he wanted to come, would we want to hire Dick Tomey again? When you break it down that is what he is, a newer version of Dick Tomey that does not let most of the talent in Texas get away. Other than that...it is the worlds most 1.overrated million y'all will ever spend each year.

I'm not saying we will or won't get Mike Stoops. I just don't understand how you can dismiss the possibility as being outlandish. Particularly when I have read from multiple sources who cover college football for a living on the national level that Mike Stoops is a potential candidate. Clearly not everyone sees this as an absurdity.

Equally clearly, the notion of the UofA getting two coaches who are at pinnacle jobs and are happily employed is just silly and not even worth responding to.

One vote for Gonzaga's Mark Few to take over when Lute retires.

RCF, he has beaten OU, he has beat Texas A&M, he has won bowl games. He is 0-1 in conference championships and 0-0 in in National championships. What do you consider a big win. Texas A&M at college station, he's done it. K-State in Manhattan, done it. OU at the cotton bowl, done it. I would love to see a National Championship but take a look around, not many active coaches have them. Also, the Big XII is a conference where 2 losses mean your done and you are going to have to play at least 2 conference games a year against teams ranked inside the top 10. Don't be retarded, Zona would love to have Mack Brown. Im not saying you would, but the President, AD, and influential alumni would

Sure Brown has won "big games" against rivals from time to time, but not when they counted the most, ala undefeated season, winning the conference title game against a bad CU team, choking against OU when it counts every year(AS AN AZ FAN< I AM STILL PISSED AT BROWN FOR NOT STARTING APPLEWHITE>).

THe man finds ways to lose that prohibits him from getting to the final level. It is that one last win, the finality of going to the next step that I think scares him and he freezes up.

I would love to have Mack Brown here as a DC and recruiting coordinator, other than that, like I said it is Dick Tomey with facilities and a recruiting rich homeland, nothing more.

Seeing as how you look down on Arizona so much, Why in the heck do you spend half of your life hanging out around here?

Could it be a case of UA envy?

Im sure I follow Arizona athletics a lot closer than most Zona fans do also. Honestly, I have some ties to Zona and I support Zona unless the square off against the Horns. Envy, I wouldn't go that far, but I do have a lot of respect for the program especially on the hoops side. I never try to dog Arizona, just try to be realistic. I read Ben's article on hoops recruiting because he does a great job and just starting posting. Your acting like im CDLOCKEDJG. Also, you really can't post on the Texas boards b/c there are like 25,000 posts a day. This board is much easier to follow and has some solid posters. Anyhow your a moderator, right? If you want me off set up a poll, I think you only need a 75% vote and Im gone.

I never said I wanted you gone. I was just curious as to why a UT fan would spend so much time posting on an Arizona board seeing as how they aren't in the same conference and really have no rivalry to speak of. I would suspect a UT fan would frequent OU, Arkansas or A&M boards more than a UA forum. But if it floats your boat, who am I to comment.

On your other remark about following UA athletics more than most UA fans do, you might or might not. You certainly comment on UA athletics moreso than most fans including total die-hards like me. In doing so, you are definitely nothing like CD, but it does make one wonder if you are some sort of stalker here from another interest looking to incite people here for no apparent reason. When you make remarks criticizing real UA fans for what they'd like to see, you open yourself up to being called a trouble maker.

That being said, I'm still a little stunned that someone who is a fan of UT would have so much free time as to hang around and post here. But I guess the world is full of all kinds.

From reading your post it is very apparent you did not read my last post. If you reread it, it will answer all the questions posed in your last post

If bringing honest and insightful opinions to this board is being a trouble maker then you are right, I am one. I have never intentionally insulted Cat fans only offered my opinions. Also, I rarely comment on UT sports unless I am responding to another post. That said, I will limit my posts so that the board can be filled with I LOVE ARIZONA and TUSCON IS HEAVEN posts. Im still playing Pimp's Pic of the Week game. Im out and good luck to the cats on next year's hoops season.
