Figured I might as well start a thread for this since the first game on ESPN is pretty much un-watch-able. Hopefully the first good/interesting game of the year

Oregon played baseball this past year. The jersey with the giant O is a little much.

Their defense is doing better than I would have expected, at least. The time of possession has got to be something like 22 to 5, and the D has only given up one TD.

Boise should have a bigger lead. And the Oregon defense has been on the field almost all the half. I have a funny feeling this game is going to get out of hand and could be over early. I missed the first quarter. Has Oregon even got a first down yet?

I wanted Oregons weaknesses exposed in this game and BSU has done a very good job of it. With no running game, Masoli looks pedestrian. Thank you Broncos for showing us that the "#2" team in the pac-10 is extremely "do-able". This season is looking better and better. (Sorry BM) :( I know the games not over yet and you can't count out the Ducks...but here's hoping.

Saturday night we need to run the ball, make great catches when the opportunity arises, not cough it up, and play fast, swarming defense. Go Cats. :)

Tackles can't see the ball in their peripheral vision and it's too loud to hear the snap count at a lot of away games so the guard and tackle will just hold hands. Guard lets go of the tackle's hand so the tackle knows when the ball is snapped.

That was the best play Kelly's called all game. Should've called it on 1st, 2nd or 3rd down, however. Not surprised they're gonna lose although I thought they might pull it out but I'm surprised how quickly Oregon abandoned what they do best. I'm actually lost on the two fourth down attempts. I mean look at it this way the score could be 14-19 right now. Very much in the game.

Now since it is 8-19 it has to be two separate scoring atleast. If he just went with the field goal and got it to 11-19, then your one td and 2pt from a tie instead of the hole they are in.

How would you rate the Oregon HC so far?

Can you imagine if his coach (Frost) wasn't there to restrain Blount when he tried to go after the fans? Man, Ron Artest all over again.

No discipline in either program. Petersin can show a lot by suspending that guy for what was surely a taunt and Kelly can show a brain by suspending Blount indefinitely.

Then he goes after a fan. Steroid rage or just a total dirt ball? You decide.

I would hope steroids would get you more than -5 yards on 8 carries. But I GUESS maybe it depends on the steroids.

Exactly. Blount clearly overreacted but the guy who taunted him had something coming to him. The slow motion shot of the punch was hilarious. Anyway, the difference between Oregon and BSU is that Peterson will probably give the guy who taunted Blount a longer suspension than Blount gets from Oregon.

He taunted the guy who had been talking sh*t about Boise the entire off season. The guy who just threw a punch while wearing a helmet. The guy who had to be restrained from attacking the fans, policemen, and his teammate...

and you think he should be suspended? I can't think of one person who deserves to be taunted more than that guy.

Grigsby was notorious last year for taunting the opposing team/fans, should he have been suspended? Only if someone took action and punched him in the face?

Your entire post evidences the reason he should be suspended. He willingly went after the one guy he knew was super pumped about the game after he lost. What was he expecting to happen? He knew he was being an *sshole and he should face some consequences. Peterson was obviously pissed the second the guy started yelling at Blount.

Yes, the proper thing to do as a coach is yell at your player and make him do extra windsprints in practice. Suspending him is just ridiculous.

I don't want to hear anybody complain about this guy unless they were adamant that Grigsby should have been suspended for virtually every game last season.

Well, at least we agree he should face some consequences. To me, extra windsprints over the course of a week or so are a worse punishment than a short suspension.

First there has to be some kind of rule about fighting where you don't just sit in practice. Didn't Ncaa get involved a couple of years ago with one team? like FIA or something.

Second: Blout was kicked off the team earlier, he pushed his own team-mate.

3rd: He was pushing and yelling at security. It took three of them to restrain him.

4th: he went after a fan, I don't care what he said. If security wasn't called he would be in the stands.

and you think he should just run sprints?

My bad - I thought you were talking about Blount. Agree with what you said about the Boise player.

I'd be shocked if he isn't suspended or even kicked off the team. There aren't any circumstances where you accept that kind of behavior. Forget for a second the taunting - what about everything after that? You represent a university and a community and a major sponsor in Nike - extra gassers aren't going to cut it. You have to control your emotions and this guy couldn't - not even a little bit.

To boot you will see this replayed and talked about tomorrow all day long and public opinion will be very tough on Blount and Oregon. He will be lucky to be on the team by the end of the day tomorrow let alone suspended.

The taunting or trash talking or whatever you want to call it works both ways. You had no problem talking trash all summer about Boise St. You can't back it up and somebody lets you know it and you do that? any you want him to run extra gassers or miss a practice? Seriously?

I not sure what has been posted, all I want to say is Oregon has been exposed as the program they always have been. Classless. They were always that way with Belotti and and continue with Chip Kelly. I have never liked Oregon, its players, or fans (there cheerleaders get a pass).
I remember when Oregon, blew out Arizona 63-17. So might say that is sour grapes, but it wasn't that fact that the Oregon creamed Arizona, it was the fact that Belotti, left Joey Arrington in the 4th qtr and running play action against us. Totally classless.

I have never respected Oregon or anything to do with it. I hope the rest of nation takes this and see's this and bashes Oregon forever. Even if it reflects bad on the the Pac-10, I don't care. Scr+w Oregon, this couldn't have happened to a worst program except ASU.

That has to be some of the worst football I've ever seen and as the Blount situation is unraveling on screen, I can't believe I think ASU has more class than any team in the country, let alone a team in the Pac10. What has Chip Kelly done?

Meh. Joey Harrington was going for the Heisman. With the overwhelming emphasis voters have put on statistics in Heisman voting, you don't bench a guy who needs as many yards as he can get.

I'd hope any coach would do what he could to not screw his own player out of the biggest individual award possible to him.

Plus, almost everyone beat the crap out of us that year. The game was actually 63-28, and we lost by 35 the next game also.

The guy didn't even look phased after the initial fall. Given the chance, I bet the BSU guy would have beat his ass.

Man, that game was such a total let down after waiting this long for football action. Hopefully it's not an indication of how this season as a whole will end. Next thing you know it, Ohio State will be winning the NC, in part because of their domination of a vulnerable USC team. I don't think my heart could handle the Buckeyes winning it all.
