Is it just me or is anyone else pleased with the trouncing Illini nation took on Saturday. Illinois was favored by 6.5 or 7 to a rebuilding Missouri team and lost a heartbreaker 37-9. And I don't even think the game was that close. Maybe it's just the sight of seeing Illinois fans in the stadium with their heads in the hands after getting destroyed to one of their arch-rivals that makes me smile. I mean, Illinois football was set for a breakout season, or was that last year or the year before that? I might still be bitter about 2005.......

Just continues to prove how bad the Big 11 is. Time for an ACC/Big 11 challenge

So how many years does everyone think Zook has left?

He always has been a great recruiter and everyone was pointing for this year to be the year. If the team does not make a bowl, the leash will become very short.

i think zook needs to win 8 games this year to keep his job. he has gone 18-31, even though he somehow snuck a rose bowl in there. outside of the 2007 season, he is 9-27 at illinois.

I'm not sure about having to win 8 games, but I think he's gone if the Illini don't make a bowl this year

You look at Zook and Hawkins who took over programs that were in much better shape then Arizona and maybe then we can apreciate where Stoops has us at this time

well zook took over a program that had gone 9-26 the 3 years before he got there. (although they went to a bcs bowl 4 years before zook). so their talent level was relatively high, they just had bad coaching.

Ha, I live in Champaign-Urbana and I didn't even know! I guess everyone's in denial.

I changed from the Notre Dame and Georgia-OKst game because watching Illinois take the beating they did, from a 'rebuilding' program, was way more fun. Missouri was suppossed to be a 5-6 win team and they trounced the lights out of Illinois with all new starters at the skill positions. Their defense looked like an 80's Hurricane defense with the way they manhandled all that offensive speed Illinois planned to shred them with.
