Who you guys going with on this one tomorrow?

Does USC commonly sell out their football games at home or is it like basketball and not many people show up? Whats their rank in attendance in the pac ten?

It will be interesting to see how the young USC QB reacts to playing in front of 100,000+ at Ohio State.

I think OSU knocks them off in a close game possibly decided by FG in the waning minutes.

They (USC) are the better team I just like OSU at home with the inexperienced QB at SC, but we will see what happens. He is a great QB but I dont think he has ever seen anything like the fans he will see tomorrow at OSU, its an intimidating place.

I agree. Navy put up 27 points on this Buckeye defense. Granted Navy runs the option, I still think USC handles them all game in a route and keeps the quarterback that thinks "everybody kills people" out of the endzone.

I go with 42-9 USC and the defense for USC scores more than the offense for Ohio State.

But given that UCLA just beat SEC Tennessee, MAC CMU beat Big10 Michigan St (after we beat CMU last week), it would be advantageous for the perception of the Pac10 as a whole if USC stomped tOSU, particularly given the prevailing attitude that this season is a down year for the Pac, and because of last week's Boise St. - Oregon debacle.

It is sort of hard to take anything away from this game. Both offense looked awful, but that could be because of the defenses. Pryor just cannot throw the ball, and even with his crazy athleticism, he just isnt that good.

Also cant believe the praise that Barkley got for that last drive. He made two throws- a dump off and one up the middle that were both wide open. Yes, good plays, but McKnight won that game and Musberger just would not acknowledge that.

Tressel didnt do himself any favors, either. That goal line stand that ended up in a fg was poorly called and didnt even attempt to exploit Pryor's skills. I dont understand why Pryor doesnt run the ball 15 times a game, because as a drop back QB he just isnt effective.

Even if possible, I'd be quite surprised if they won in Happy Valley.

I took a look and I think that was the only game they have left against a top 25 team. One win against Penn State and the whining from Colombus might begin...

There is a <1% chance that a team with one win over a ranked opponent makes it into the championship game. There is a lot of **** in other conferences that would have to break their way, and they'll need Penn State and Michigan to win a lot of games between now and November and look good in beating them.

And I can understand that and you can understand that and a significant portion of the national media can understand that.

And even with all that understanding my bet is you'll still hear whining out of Columbus if the above mentioned situation plays out. Hopefully people won't listen to it and they'll instead send State to a lower BCS bowl where they can get their faces caved in by the second place SEC team.

1. 4.25 my ass. Don't care what USC says.

2. You would think that USC has enough athletes on their roster that they don't have to risk their best defensive player, and maybe best player, getting injured covering kicks.

Their new special teams coach has committed to using starters on special teams. They're going to need to force turnovers this year and putting the best headhunter in the country on the field as much as possible will help generate them.

The real question is why didn't USC spread the field and exploit their speed earlier? It's like Carrol wanted to see if they could beat tOSU playing boring ass Big 10 football. That game was not enjoyable to watch at all.

First game I have seen in a long long time where USC's play calling was obviously trying to protect the QB.

OSU sniffed that out early and dared USC to try and beat them with Barkley, and USC backed down from the dare.

I honestly can not remember the last time I saw that.

As an aside, in hindsight, this game was won 1 minute into the 1st quarter when Pete went for the TD on 4th down.

Pete didn't win the game, Tress lost it.

His multiple personality thing is rearing its ugly head at the wrong times.

At the end of the first half, what's with the shots downfield? Run the ball twice and run out the clock and go in with a 3 point lead.

He has a chance to ice the game late, but he calls two straight tailback off-tackle plays at the goal line.

They have one of the best placekickers in the country, but pass up a 52 yarder only to give SC the ball back for ultimately the game winning drive.

I get that Pryor wants to play in the league, but he needs to be encouraged run more if that's best for the team.

There were a couple games like this yesterday where it was really hard to figure out how a deserving team actually lost. Notre Dame, Fresno State, Ohio State and to a lesser degree Stanford all should've won their respective games. USC will get better as the season goes along but it seems to me that Berkeley should be the favorite in the PAC-10 right now.

Maybe because it was on the road, in front of 106k screaming fans, and only his second game ever. You've got to give props where it's due. Dude just got sacked, then engineered that last drive.

Pac 10 looking better and better.

Dude threw a dump of to a rb, a seam up the middle to a TE on a blown coverage and a slant to a receiver, all wide open with time. Yes, he made the plays and should get praised for that. But its not like he willed his team to victory or even was the most important player on that drive. Joe McKnight won that game on the drive with a ton of help from SC's o-line that finally decided to show up. The biggest play of the drive was the 2nd and 19 from SC's 5 where McKnight broke an 11 yard run.

Its great that he is a true freshman and won a game in a hostile environment, but McKnight was the one that deserved the praise and the accolades.

That's a little silly and an over-reaction to Musberger's-over abundant praise. Something tells me you're a little biased here, can't quite put my finger on it ...

QBs get credit for the big picture. The big picture 14 plays, 86 (really 95 yards) in 6:10 @tOSU late in the 4th for the winning score & 2 pt-conversion throw. He made 3 passing plays as you recognize, and 2 QB sneaks for 1st downs when needed. Of course McKnight and the OL were clutch, no doubt, but to say Barkley doesn't deserve credit for stepping up when needed is silly.

I will say that USC appears to be a bit more vulnerable with the inexperience at QB, but the RBs, OL & Defense should be good enough to win at least 8 more games, if not challenge for more.

Yeah, not good for the rest of the PAC that they get to go woodshed the Washington schools over the next couple games to get Barkley integrated into the full offense.

Exactamundo. Point is, he went through his baptism under fire with a W on the road, and now will have a few weeks to get really comfy before heading out to South Bend, Berkeley, and the rest of the road games.

I'm not sure that the Dawgs will be an easy game. Seems like those kids are playing with pride, etc under the new staff. But SC will win that game.
