Kansas State just got a little tougher after UCLA suspended 4 players today. With their QB out not a good time.

Our second string CB, 4th string TE, 3rd string WR, and 4th string TB.

what was the issue? missing a meeting? late?

Our second string CB, 4th string TE, 3rd string WR, and 4th string TB.

Courtney Viney is UCLA's starting CB, Knox is the 3rd string RB (and moving up the depth chart, from what I understand), Morrell Presley is a WR not a TE and Carroll is 2nd string behind T. Austin.

Carroll, Knox & Viney are talented, but I'm sure UCLA will make do against Kansas St.

KSU stinks anyway, so even if they had key players out it wouldn't matter.

You might want to check what positions and string these guys are since one is a starter.

Actually Hester is was the starting CB, Knox was the 4th string RB but CRam's status is still an unknown, Pressley is a TE, but is playing the slot because the depth is better at WR, and find, our second string Flanker is out for the KSU

Whoa, whats the story?

THe dreaded "violation of team rules" which means we will never know unless one of the players tells.

I would imagine they either snuck out and got drunk last Saturday or got busted smoking pot. Unless Rick has done a total makeover (which I think he has), I doubt they were late to a meeting

Hester's hurt...Viney is the starting CB

Indeed he is! Viney is still a second string CB

K- state is going to be a bit desperate after losing to UL Lafayette last Saturday. I still think UCLA wins and covers.

Um why? UCLA didn't start their first string QB last year, they started their 3rd string QB last year but he started every game.

I'm aware of where Viney et al are located on the depth chart, but 3 of those 4 aren't much of a loss for the KSU game, which was the point of my post initially

Better to do the suspensions now, than the start of Pac 10 play, with Furd, Oregon, and Berkeley due up over the next 3 weeks.;):)

Stop being silly regarding a player being "nth string". A depth chart is fluid, not etched in stone at the beginning of the season. Kevin Craft was your 1st string QB for much of last season because he started much of last season, regardless of being 3rd or 4th string at the beginning of camp.

Saying those players won't be much of a loss for the KSU game is a fair statement, but your point about where they began the season on the depth chart doesn't support your conclusion like you think it does.

He doesn't understand what being first string is. He did this about 9 months ago when discussing Kevin Craft and called him UCLA's 4th string QB. The first string guy is the guy who takes all the reps and runs with the first unit.

I apologize for attributing first-string as another word-phrase for "first choice". I'll try not to let it happen again...

:lol2: Do that ...

BTW, "choice" and "preference" change all the time as well. But I'm sure you know that, and yes, I understand what your larger point was here ...

I'd hope so. I think that if it was Brian Price, Kai Maiva, Reggie Carter, and Verner, we'd probably be in a word of hurt :)

Oh and that decent road game against a hopefully solid D after that :)
