Anyone watching this on CBS? Florida just took a 13-10 lead on a long TD throw, but now Arkansas is back in the red zone. 11 ticks left in the 3rd

EDIT: 13-13 heading into the 4th

"uh, gee, I'm watching this great game, and Ark is keeping it close, but no one is talking about it online? hmm I wonder why. Maybe they arn't aware of this game, so I'll just start a thread and talk about it."

WE ARE ALL THINKING THE SAME THING...

If the thread isn't started before the game, there is a reason it hasn't been created yet.

A flag? Really? He turned and looked for the ball. Since when does the defensive player have no right to his own space? As a DB you better not try to make a play on the ball in front of a receiver anymore.

As the announcers just mentioned, Arkansas had an opportunity to put wayyy more points on the board than what they have. Clearly it was this thread's fault.

So, with Florida and UT winning close games, what if Bama dominates again tonight? Do they creep closer to taking the top spot in the polls?

They should certainly gain some #1 votes. You also have to consider, Florida had that showing on their own field. Not the most convincing.

Really. I don't know which is worse: the SEC's refs purposefully handing the conference's top teams wins, or the utter incompetence of the Pac-10's refs.

you have to give the SEC props for not hiding what they're doing....

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Southeastern Conference says there's no video evidence to support the personal foul call against Arkansas' Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks' 23-20 loss to Florida.

The penalty gave the Gators the ball on the Arkansas 10-yard line, and they scored on the next play to tie the game at 20. Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said Monday the school had expressed its concerns to the league.

The league said schools can send in plays after each game for review. The SEC said it told Arkansas "there was no evidence on the video to support the personal foul penalty."

It was the same group of officials that called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called.

This is exactly what happened. Florida lost that game. And two clearly botched calls handed the game to a Gators team and offense who have struggled of late against better caliber defenses. It appears that official incompetence is not limited to the PAC-10.

Three even. Florida shouldn't have been in position for the field goal, because the refs didn't call an extremely blatant offensive pass interference either.

CBS paid a ****load of money for that SEC contract, and even their own announcers couldn't hold back on all three of those calls (and the retarded calls at LSU/Georgia).

Spurrier asks SEC if tape trick legalComment Email Print Share Associated Press

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said Alabama used some tape trickery to spot field goals and extra points last weekend and is asking the Southeastern Conference if that is legal.

While reviewing video of the Gamecocks' (No. 24 BCS, No. 23 AP) loss, Spurrier said Tuesday that it looked as if the Crimson Tide holder had put a small piece of white tape on the ground to spot PATs and field goals.

"I thought you just had to put it on the ground. But they had a little piece of white tape or something, and I looked at it on tape and I said, 'What's that little piece of white there?' Then after the guy kicked it he grabbed it and put it back in his pocket," Spurrier said.

SEC officials received a formal complaint from South Carolina officials Tuesday and are looking into the matter, league spokesman Charles Bloom said.

Alabama officials said its coaches have been reminded of the rule on placekicks.

Crimson Tide kicker Leigh Tiffin hit both extra points and field goals of 25 and 35 yards Saturday in the 20-6 victory. He also missed a 49-yarder. The senior is 9-of-11 on field goals and 21-of-23 on PATs this season.

Spurrier said he has no idea if what he thinks happened is legal.

"I've never seen that before," Spurrier said. "But I'm sure they've probably been doing it all year."

The NCAA football rulebook (Rule 6-3; Article 10; subsection d) says:

"Any device or material used to mark the spot of a scrimmage place kick or elevate the ball makes the kick illegal."

The penalty is "illegal kick" and is five yards from the previous spot.
