The Heisman Trophy! As the resident USC Alum/Fan and a s a big West Coast guy, all I can say is, "It's about friggin time!!!" Carson had the best year of anyone in NY and made the most impact on his team. The only other guy I thought might have deserved the award was Brad Banks of Iowa. But nobody played the type of schedule SC did (8 ranked teams including a brutal nonconference slate of Notre Dame, Auburn, Colorado and Kansas St.), and yet Carson still flourished. SC never had an easy opponent (the UA being their one Pac Ten miss) and Carson came to play every day. What an outstanding winner and props to the whole West Coast!!!

Auer, I'm not convinced. Sure he put up numbers against Notre Dame, Auburn, Colorado, Kansas St, etc. But he never had to go up against Arizona's dominant secondary. I'd like to see what he could have done vs. a real defense, like Arizona's!

In all seriousness, he deserved to win. It's about time the trophy comes back to the West Coast.
