While I agree that the policing by non-mods can be a bit much, I also don't see an issue with some self-policing if it helps the board. Obviously, that thread was a dogpile, but it really was repetitive as well considering the recent threads that are related to that topic, never mind that I recall prior discussions on the matter on this board. I was (and still am) taking issue with the idea that anyone can start as many threads as they want, even if on topic. That's expressly against board rules, a different form of spamming but spamming all the same (see Jessie Wildcat), and furthermore, just not the best way to go about participating on a board.
I don't have a gang of bullies, but the board does have a fair share of those who resent newer posters coming in here and flailing about. I do moderate some of the forums, but I don't have mod powers in the PT forum, which is why I publicly posted in that thread.
