With Artests history, this should be a X3 suspension where Artest misses three-times the games that Harden is out. It's time the NBA start penalizing the result as much as the action.

I agree. I don't have any issues with a long suspension. I think the Lakers have long over-compensated for fixing their soft image

Jordan Hill was awesome. It looks like Meta's inexcusable action just opened up playing time for one of my all-time favorite Cats.

The NBA is so soft. In the NHL that would have only been a 3 game suspension.

At first I thought Harden was trying to bump World Ironic and get in his head. Upon a few angles, I think he was going to the ball for the inbounds. Ibaka was looking his way, as if Harden was going to bring the ball up court. It looks like Ron's momentum carried him into Harden, then knocked Harden back as Harden looked to be fighting through to get to the inbound, then knocked him the **** out in jubilation gone awry.

I don't think he intentionally hit Harden in the head, nor do I think he meant to swing quite so hard. Call me naive. I think his blood was pumping, he was hyped and everything got away from him. Do I think he meant to clear out the bug hovering around his parade out of the way? Yep. Was swing the intentional? Yep. The extent and the damage I believe was a side effect of Ron Ron being completely ****in' amped, and not giving a **** at that point what he did or what would come of it.

I still say 3X the games Harden misses. You fire a gun into the air and it strikes someone, you're liable. You swing an elbow high and tight and clock someone, it should be the same, regardless of intent overall.

Good take as always JMJ!

I just hope that rest of the team steps up and doesn't rely on Kobe too much. I really like how the Lakers played with Kobe out. If they play good team ball they will be a tough out in the playoffs. Unfortunately, they are still only 3rd best in the west. I still wouldn't want to face them if I was OKC. Maybe they should drop to a 4 seed since they don't match-up well with the Spurs. At least they would have a chance to make it to the Western conf. finals.

Yeah, Ron gets caught up in the game. The guy's a warrior on the court. He's a guy I want with me when the chips are down and it's time to rock and roll. But...control is a must in any type of competition, sport or otherwise. On point JMJ.

10 does sound about right. Or for-****ing-ever, if the commish had stones. Dude should be charged with assault if Harden's injury is even slightly significant. It wasn't even a basketball play!

In my opinion they need to upgrade flagrant fouls. They need three levels. Flagrant 1 with a basketball play that results in injury brings a 1-3 game suspension so long as it appears unintentional. Flagrant 2 with a basketball play brings 4-5, while without brings 6-9. Next, there needs to be a Flagrant 3 level that brings with it the 10+ or 3Xgames missed suspension when an injury results from a non-basketball play.

A few games means nothing. Even in the early playoffs. Gotta hit them hard and make them think twice.

This play, the Danny Fortson air-born shove on former Sun, Zarko, that resulted in a broken wrist are examples. Fights are fights and are separate. This wasn't a fight.

Just another random person's opinion, but it looked pretty bad. With his history, id see him have a significant suspension.

But suspending important players on important teams doesn't pay the bills, so...

I think Metastatic Whirled Peas is a sociopath.

Ten game minimum suspension, perhaps the rest of the season. There was nothing accidental about this. The apology was lame.

I agree he probably didn't intend to hit Harden as hard as he did. I disagree that he didn't mean to hit Harden in the head. The only way is to basically excuse him because Ron basically snaps when he's excited.

Ron's intent is always cloudy b/c he's so erratic. I wouldn't be bothered by whole playoffs. It's not unreasonable to say that it's the worst on court shot since the Malice and Kermit Washington. If he'd caught Harden clean on the temple, Harden would have been out. Getting his shoulder up a little did a lot.

I think the League views playoff games as twice the value of regular season games so I look at it as a 13 game suspension (assuming the Lakers make it through the first round).

I thought 10-15 days was the correct range.

Could it have been more? yeah, but I can sort of understand the decision.
