Is it just me? Need some input from non-Arizona residents.

It seems like there is more of a buzz in the air about Wildcat football this year than in previous years. I know that most of us that frequent this site are feeling it, but I'm wondering if it is just our usual fanatacism or if this really could be our year to smell roses.

Is it just us, or is there some buzz out there about the Cats this year? What are you guys that live outside of Arizona hearing?

I just think other teams will not be overlooking Arizona this year is all like they have been for years.

But I have been a fan so long (since I started at the UA in 1981) that I just can't get excited anymore. Just too many disappointments.

I'm excited each and every year and if I let the disappointments get me down then I would've stopped being a fan during the Wacko years.

Wacko years I was hoping that we would still be in the game by the end of the 1st quarter.

Now I walk into the stadium knowing that not only can we compete with anybody but that we can beat anybody. I love that as a fan and that's what gets me excited about the season.

At some point people will stop comparing today's Arizona football to every team we've had in the last 25 years.

The tried and true "we always lose a game that we shouldn't"? What game last year did we lose that we shouldn't have? UW? Cal? I wouldn't put either of those games in the UNM or Stanford of 2 years ago? Both games ended on fluke plays and both games were on the road.

When was the last time we lost a home game that we shouldn't have? ntOSU 2 years ago? The Beavs were ranked #22 in the country. The unm game and Stanford games of 3 years ago? That would be 3 years ago and yet people still think it will happen every year.

You tell em!
I totally agree. How can you not be excited? Especially Ty, what with all of stoops recruiting baring fruit and we're seeing change, positive change- for a program that could be winning for years to come... So to everyone else please, be excited, keep hoping and having faith in your cats football team cause without that... Well you're probably not excited, if you're not excited you're probably more of a basketball fan waiting for hoops season.

I've been excited every season I've been a cats football fan (since memories kicked in, about 4ish) even during the wacko years, I mean if you can't be excited about our football program now then you can never be.

Hah I saw that guy somewhere up in Phoenix during the past year at a sporting event. He was working a Suns game, I believe, though it could have been Spring Training. Had to buy some lemonade from him.

There is a ton of buzz out there because for once the USC empire is on the downward spiral, and other than Oregon, there is a group of 4-5 schools right there. I mean heck, There is only 24 points difference between the #4 school and the #6 school.

Could the additional buzz around the 'Cats be due to the fact that there are TWO Baucus' on the team? Just wondering. Mr. Bauk.

Lots of reason for the additional buzz. The 'Cats came in second last year, and were 6 seconds from the Rose Bowl. The team has improved every year under Stoops. Virtually the entire high-flying offense is back.

The team might not get the respect yet from the national polls, but ESPN/ABC respects Arizona enough that they have announced that they will televise FIVE Arizona games this year (which is HUGE, the national exposure will be AWESOME for our program).

Just another building block on the way to the national championship. This year's step is the Rose Bowl. Then it is on to the National Championship. I have only been connected to the team since Jack was recruited in 2008/09, but I must say that the attitude is CHAMPIONSHIPS, not bowl eligibility. The players and the staff have set the bar high. I commend Stoops and company for instilling that attitude. Just qualifying for a bowl is no longer enough.

So there you have it. The excitement and buzz this year is DEFINITELY increased over past years. Mr. Bauk.
