Cool Things You Expect From Mike Stoops

I have waited to post regarding your hire of Mike Stoops until now so as to make my following observations hopefully more meaningful.

1. Mike Stoops is a winner as a person--he and Bob care more about their players than any coaches I know or have known about. Do not let Mike's fiery sideline demeanor cause you to believe he is abusive or disrespectful to his players--he has the ability to develop a special relationship with them and they ,in turn, think the world of him.

2. Mike Stoops will represent your university with class--certainly he has done some things I am sure he regrets in the past--but who has not? The point is he has been a model of decorum at OU and has been a wonderful spokesman for the university and Oklahoma.

3. Mike will build an outstanding football program for Arizona and all he will ask for is your support--it will happen "sooner" than most of you probably think.---I am one of many Sooner fans pulling for Mike and Arizona football!

Now you know why KSU fans are not liked much by anyone.

There are dozens of KSU fans who can't stand the thought of Bob, Mike, Brent and Mangino having success after they left KSU for OU.

One would think these people would eventually give it up, but, no they continue to bash on.

Everytime any of the former KSU coaches are up for jobs the KSU fans can't wait to beat it to the message boards and trash these guys. They have it worse for Mike than anyone. It has been constant Mike Stoops bashing for the KSU Wildcats for five years.

I think we all recognize that losing coaches sometimes can be painful. What is so sad about all this is that KSU was the worst program in all of D-1A until Snyder was hired and brought Bob, Mike and Mangino to KSU to help him build that program. Bob was there seven years. Both Mike and Mangino were there for a long time as well. They are as much responsible for KSU rise from the ashes as anyone.

With that history one would think that the KSU fans would want to thank Bob, Mike and Mangino for all the good years they gave KSU. No, they just hate and bash.

You almost want to feel sorry for these kinds of KSU fans.

Things

I swear, it is difficult to believe how sick, jealous and bitter these K-State fans are. The reason all of those coaches fled from Bill Snyder's staff to come to work for Bob Stoops is because Snyder himself is a sick and bitter boss.

Like coach, like fan, I guess.

wonder why KSU loses so many good coaches????

reason....they can't wait to bail from the compulsive, no personality HC Bill Synder. Just because Snyder had no life outside football, doesn't man coaches want the same thing, you don't have to sleep on the office couch and work 18 hours a day to scheme for other teams.....the sooners and Bob don't do that and seem to be successful, so yeah not much of a choice once you get established at KSU and another program calls...that will never change as long as Synder is there and he knows it but is so frigging anally compulsive he can't change it....

I think you're being too hard on KSU fans. Most are bitter about the 'way' Mike left, not in the fact that he left. Asst. coaches leave all the time and Bill Snyder has never stood in the way of coaches leaving. But, if you look at the coaches who have left, the ONLY coaches that bad-mouthed him was the Stoops brothers... not Venables or Mangino. Every other coach talks about what a wonderful man Coach Snyder is and several have returned. Phil Bennet talked about how Snyder would show up in the middle of the night to sit with him when his wife was dying. Mike Stoops definitly had a personality problem with Snyder. But, it is a FACT that Mike had two DUI's, was known to chase college age girls, and did father an out of wedlock child while he was in Manhattan. Those traits did not sit well with Snyder. As for the fans, many blame Mike for his handling of the 98 Big 12 title game and the bowl game where physical confrontation occured with his defensive breakdowns. KSU was literally ONE play away from going to the National championship game so there were many hurt feelings. Then there were the COMMITTED recruits who had no interest whatsoever in going to OU who suddenly changed their minds and de-committed to KSU. Those feelings are hard to forget. But, I think that Mike has matured the last five years. Hopefully, he has. I do know that he is a heck of a talented coach and AU will be competitive very soon. But, with the microscope that college coaches are under today, he'd better make sure that he doesn't repeat his past off the field behavior. Hopefully, he will. Good luck!

Damn - Tuberville left. I thought we had the upper edge in landing Stoops.

JUST PLAYING WITH YOUR WORDS. It's UA - not that Auburn logo as you noted.

He also married the girl he fathered the child with.

If you watch Letterman, are you going to stop watching him because he fathered a child out of wedlock?

Only know of one DUI, can you show me proof of the other? What was that like TEN years ago? Come on, man. The guy has grown up, yet you K-State fans (I can tell you're one of em) won't let it go just because your bitter that Stoops talked bad about Snyder.

Did you witness him chasing college age girls around at all?

Don't we all wish we were chasing college age girls? Even if single man Stoops was 30 then, college age girls he was after were probably 21-22, not that big of difference.

Now me, at 45, chasing 22 year olds, well, it wouldn't happen. For one thing my wife would beat me senseless, and secondly they want nothing to do with me. I work on campus, and these dollies are wonderful.

Mike Price chasing 22 year olds, now that would be a story, and why he has to spend $$$ to do it.

yeah right.....the cubs were one play away from the World Series...get over it, KSU will never get to the NC game, with Mike they at least got close and now that UA has Mike, recruits would certainly go to Tucson and play for Mike than go to Manhatten and play for Bill...lol !

KSU needs to worry about Neb's new coach and their return otherwise they will drop from 4th in the Big 12 to lower, at least KSU is not in the Big 12 South

_______________

Guess the players like Mike, plus it is a verbal committment, not binding, which means they wanted to play for Mike not Bill all along

Mike will attract kids here just like he did at OU, kids relate to a guy like Mike because of his younger age, charisma, record...not to Mr. Rogers type old guy...sorry, but that's why Snyder needs the younger assistants to recruit because they ain't coming there to play for him

ksu was literally one play away from going to the nc game. you know, its that play where half the players on the other team suddenly tear their acl's and the other half spontaneously combust.
