ASU - Great Alaska Shootout

I think they are playing in front of a larger crowd than they do at home.

I can't imagine there is more than 1000 people there...counting the players.

After reviewing this year's field, the "Great Alaska Shootout" has been changed to the "Alaska Shootout."

Carry on.

Yep, that tournament used to be amzaing. Of course you only had that and the Maui Invitational and the Preseason NIT. Now everyone and their dog has a preseason tournament and who the hell wants to go to ALaska n November if you don't have to.

This tournament is awful every year. It was great years ago, now it's consistently garbage. But I guess it makes sense for ASU to play in it, seeing as they know that they won't have any tough games by picking this tournament.

ASU lost in the finals to a mediocre St. John's team. Keala King, aka the "next James Harden," contributed 0 points in the final and is averaging 4 ppg so far this year.

I looked up, I had forgotten that when we played there in the 1997-98 season, we beat #9 Michigan and #3 Syracuse. And we were #17. Crazy field, they'll never see that again.

I think you meant '87-'88 season. Yes, a very good field as Arizona rolled to an eventual #1 ranking for the first time in school history.

But we were there in 97-98 as well; the Michigan & Syracuse games were in the 87-88 season.

Nice choke job ASU! From up 10 at half to lose by 9. To Slick of all coaches. Yep, that Sendek is a genius!

BTW, those broadcasts were consistently the worst production of a basketball game that I've ever seen. I caught the end of the Weber State-Drake consolation game, and they "showed" what turned out to be the game-winning free throw, from a handheld under the basket, which showed the release of the shooter but never followed the ball, never showed the ball going through the basket, and never showed a replay. If I regularly wore tin-foil hats, I'd wonder if the free throw ever went in. Just awful.
