Goodwin's main attraction was the fact that he was supposedly going to be a football scholly, not take up hoops scholly count....right now, we have an abundance of bigs, so no big loss in the scheme of things, but it would have been nice to have an extra body, one that is consensus top25 recruit......

We already have a consensus top5 kid in Anderson (signed LOI), and a fabulous outside shooter in Jordan Adams.....but we need to get at least one of Parker and Bazz to make it a memorable class....

Then we can move on to the '13 kids, and hopefully a PG to take over KA in a couple of years....

Would seem to me the tried and true formula for success in Westwood is 1) grab all of, or a majority of, the elite California talent and 2) add the odd elite player from elsewhere that expresses a strong interest in wanting to play at UCLA/in LA.

Easey peasey.

This whole thing just seems off to me, but like 97, I'm often confused.

That sounds strangely like Sean Miller's game plan...

Neither Parker nor Shabazz is going to UCLA, so you may wanna start hittin up the JUCO circuit again. That seems to be the only place Howland's getting any love these days. Heh.

Wednesday was the first day of the NCAA’s early signing period, and Carter is tentatively scheduled to announce between Georgia Tech and UGA, among others, at 5 p.m. Thursday.

What about Parker and Goodwin? They may wait until April’s late signing period.

Duke and Ohio State are considered the frontrunners for the 6-foot-9, 270-pound Tony Parker, who also took official visits to UCLA and Memphis.

And Kentucky, UNC, USC, and TAMU are considered front runners for Shabazz

Also

“We may still sign another here early. We have the potential for one more. We'll either lose him or get him (in the early signing period) Probably four (total in this class)."

Thanks for keeping us abreast of UCLA F Duke!

Could UCLA's 2012 Basketball Recruiting Class be the Best Ever?

Shabazz Muhammad
Kyle Anderson
Tony Parker
Shaq Goodwin
Dominic Artis
Jordan Adams

UCLA basketball is looking well poised for 2012-13. However, finishing second to someone in recruiting is the same as finishing last. UCLA needs to seal the deal and we are talking very young kids. UCLA does not need to bat a 1000 on the players listed above to have a great class. Thus, hyperbole aside, I am cautiously optimistic of a monster class in 2012-13.

haha...still trolling

What's next, LADon posting PGU stuff on the board? Or bumping a thread about Shabazz and Anderson would be Wildcats if Miller wanted them?

That was me, and it was qualified after you rightly questioned it, and it wasn't based solely on opinion, if you get my drift, but there was some speculation as I acknowledged.

As it is, Miller didn't/doesn't want him.

Why pass up Upshaw? Serious question. Disregard the fact that he's a local kid and absolutely fits UCLA's system to a tee, why would you pass up on him to try for two southeast kids? At the very worst why not be involved with both?
