The Cards would be great. Although it won't happen. But after the first horrible performances of Skelton and Kolb the fans would demand Foles. He'd probably become a starter midway through the season.

http://liveballsports.com/2012/04/12...-quarterbacks/

A quarterback draft preview by Greg Trippiedi of Live Ball Sports, who apparently reviews game tape instead of parroting MSM and fan-blog idiocy based upon combines and other irrelevant venues. Net, Greg isn't a lazy MSM airhead who "scouts" by watching televised practices, and (therefore) doesn't need to be advised that Nick isn't an inspired practice player. He sees Nick not only as a likely NFL starter but as a long-shot HOF candidate, and his other takes on QBs like Kellen Moore (IMHO a scrapper and winner) are refreshing.

Real NFL scouts can't comment on draft (it's considered tampering) and I'll bet there are 32 teams out there hoping that the other guys spent more time watching Foles' combine tape than game tape.

Greg explains why Tom Brady would still be (at best) a late 1st round pick today in the 2011 link below, and the comparisons to Foles are almost eerie. IMHO Nick will go to a good offensive team (i.e. one with a complex offensive system in place) late in the first round or via a trade-up pick in the first half of the second round. I like NE, Packers, NYG, Denver, 49ers, Saints, Cowboys and SD as potential fits and suspect Nick would, too.

I agree that Denver would be the best, but playing behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay wouldn't be terrible either. Foles would get time to learn how to be an NFL QB from a coaching staff that does a great job developing young QBs.

Foles in the 4th, don't really like him as a prospect. Criner didn't test well but he should be a solid #2 guy, hopefully across from #11.

azatm - I think there are a least a couple scouts who believe what I and Trippiedi believe. IMO that makes Denver an unlikely destination for Foles as I am under the inpression that Denver won't be using their 1st or 2nd pick on a QB. Though I agree with BTD that Denver would be a good spot for him. In the odd chance he lasts to the end of the 3rd round we might take him as I think a lot of the noise in Denver regarding who the Donks are looking at (Tannehill Osweiler etc.) is misdirection. I liked the Pats for Reed last year and I think I like the Pats for Foles this yeas as well if he's still there at 48.

If someone takes Cousins Osweiler or Tannehill ahead of Foles they're a fool imo.

Nick on Gruden's QB Camp today. A+ viewing. On again in about 30 minutes or 9pm Arizona time if you have ESPNU. Really hoping this kid makes it in the League. Bear Down, Nick.

Not looking like he's going to GB based on most of the various local news stories about who the Pack might pick. Except for the article I posted last week, Foles rarely comes up as a potential GB pick.

Either GB is not looking at him, or possibly one of two other reasons his name isn't mentioned much:

1. As a result of his performance at the combine, maybe he's flying under the radar for most scouts/writers and so isn't getting warranted attention.

2. Most writers say GB is looking for a later round QB and maybe they don't think Foles will last that long.

However, Regarding 1 above, Thompson, Green Bay's GM has a knack of picking good players missed by others.

Been saying that in some form or another since January. Not sold on Tannehill, not sure what guys like McShay are thinking about him or why he thinks it.

Although, I was listening to one of the ESPN pre-draft podcasts, and I think it was McShay who was breaking down the "under-pressure" situations and said that Foles had more completions at a higher percentage for more yards and TDs in those situations than any of the other Top 7 QB prospects, showing that he's already more adept at this point to what he'll often face in the NFL in that regard. I think the combine has really depressed his draft value, but all it takes is one GM/Coach to see what he brings, and hopefully it's a team that can let Foles sit for 2 years and learn.

Two things I got out of that:

1.) Gruden obviously thought UA's OL was terrible with all the comments about how many hits he took and not to my recollection suggesting he held the ball too long, instead saying he didn't check down enough. Of course, Foles didn't check down enough because UA had to keep the RB in to block more often than not, and Foles was never sure when/if the RB was going to leak out, so Gruden notes that and says Foles has to be on the same page w/ the RB, which brings us back to the OL.

2.) Never realized Brad Johnson was that big of a QB.

Great minds think alike.

On top of that Tannehill has been a QB for what 18 months? He's a project, you're not going to get a meaningful snap out of him for at least a season maybe 2. If you're looking that far down the line maybe it makes more sense. Foles needs some touchup but not to the same degree imo.

Totally. One of the good things about Foles is he doesn;t appear to flinch when the cards are down. Put up very good numbers on average teams and had many end of half and end of game must have drives for scores. Tannehill's numbers last season against quality competition were abysmal though off of the top of my head I cant remember them exactly.

Not a practice player, he's a gamer, his performance in the senior bowl c/w the preweek hype spoke to that. I know at least 1 person in the Donks office has been told that , not certain if it will make a difference. But if Foles is still there after Denver's 1st two picks it might.

Probably would never happen, but it would be great if Nick gets drafted by New England....
