Comical, rail on Stoops for telling it like it is. And yes RR looks like a quality coach, but we don't get his kind without the Michigan fiasco.

We haven't won championships and established ourselves in the top half of the conference be
cause of facilities. We keep everything on the cheap.

This is about committment which we have had none of

From the LA Times in 2003

"But Stoops, 41, said good coaches can win anywhere, a view reinforced by his six years as an assistant at Kansas State, a former have-not that has become a perennial bowl team. He cited Washington State as an example of what can be done in the intensely competitive Pac-10.

The younger Stoops, the top-ranked Sooners' co-defensive coordinator, takes over a team that went 2-10 and finished last in the Pacific 10 Conference.

The secret, he said, is instilling a winning attitude in the players and coaching preparation. Stoops said Arizona has the facilities, attractiveness and athletes to reverse its string of four losing seasons.

"Every team I've ever been associated with has been as well-prepared as any team we played," he said.

I still wonder why Byrne even gave Stoops the half-season in '11. The way the team had lost the last two bowl games--well, let's just say that I'd made my decision about Stoops at halftime of the Alamo Bowl.

This, though Stoops still did deserve a sophomore year from Gronk. That probably would have been enough in '09.

But it didn't happen. So what did Stoops do about it? The whole season's shortcomings can't be pinned on an injury to one player.

I'd say that Stoops needs to point the finger back at himself at least once with his "lack of commitment" criticisms. I'll give RichRod those recruiting props already, because he is recruiting metro Phoenix better than Stoops ever did, right now.

True. Stoops was too limited as a head coach to last, but Arizona fans had to find this out the hard way.

If you want change, BE the change you seek.

Stoops wasn't that way. He burnt himself out early on as a head coach, and it showed badly in recruiting visits and choices--not to mention the sideline demeanor, of course.

Facilities aren't everything. If RichRod doesn't make full use of them and show much more head coaching IQ than Stoops could ever do in eight seasons, he's never going to be able to hurdle USC, Stanford or Oregon, not even for one Rose Bowl.

Your program infrastructure has to be competitive with the best to compete for Rose Bowls, yes. But Arizona has to be able to do that without devolving to ASU's level and, if you'll pardon the expression, whoring out academic standards completely.

The only SEC school I've ever hoped Arizona would be mentioned in the same conversation with academically is Vanderbilt. Let's keep it that way.

He's right about needing University-wide commitment to win - but that should be clarified to mean winning long-term.

None of those things would have helped his 2009 team, which had the talent and fan support needed to go to the Rose Bowl.

And none of those things changed the fact that he brought in ZERO offensive linemen and only 1 4-year linebackers in 2007 which directly impacted much of our failures this past season.

I like Stoops but if assu can recruit elite players at these positions, dammit so should we.

Ding ding ding! Heeeeeee's down for the count.

BTW - I'm not Chris Bonney, either.

I don't live in my mom's basement, I don't purport myself to be an expert on something I'm not, I eat healthy for the most part, I'm not fat and I do have sex with a woman. All of the above disqualifies me from being RealFatFan.

So far from what I'm reading is that:
1. RR's practices are like going through SEAL training.

2. Players have got bad attitudes

3. The food at the training table is better.

4. The O line sucks (deja-vu)

I'm trying to draw a pattern here but no luck.
