What is he, like 90 yrs old? How can he relate to a 19 y.o.? From day one, the other coaches will be coaching against his age. Maybe he'll just be a figurehead.

His coaching legacy is a selling point. Do any of the kids he'll be recruiting know about it?

It's an interesting hire. If you're SMU, why not? Not like they were relevant before. It's high upside, low risk. Get the Pony Excess crew to put up some cash, and you're Baylor with a guy who can coach in games and needs adult diapers.

He's averages less than three years per at his last three stops. Not long for this one, either.

Yep... He used to be driven by the challenge. His last few stops, however, the challenge seems to get the better of him very, very quickly. I don't see how this, where his biggest way to improve is his biggest issue at his age/motivation (recruiting), will turn out differently.

If he makes it a full recruiting class, then it's a good hire. By then, I think real change will come. But the first two years will be a real struggle and I don't think Brown will care to stick it out.

Yeah I can agree if he can get 1 good recruiting class in, that it would be a success. I hope they have a younger guy on his staff that can take the reigns.

My guess is this is a three or four year agreement, where there's a head coach in waiting with a similar philosophy and teaching style on staff, Brown being the name they can learn from for a few years, then he retires and the head coach takes over a coached up team with some upperclassmen leadership.

It's the only thing that makes sense about this.
