When's the last time Criner got caught from behind?

Oakland is a great place for him, he'll get the opportunity there that a #2-3 round pick would get with other teams because Oakland needs WRs. Criner ran a couple 4.6s after the combine, his draft prospects should not have been "decimated" or tumbled as they did considering some of the schlubs who went ahead of him. Marvin Jones, are you freaking kidding me?

Raiders got a steal, you watch.

2nd or 3rd best? Come on man, you don't really believe that do you? He is a steal in the 5th round but so say that he is a 1st round talent is crazy. 3rd round talent probably, with some health concerns that slides him to 4th or 5th round.

Criner may not be too much of a deep threat in the NFL, but more like the guy who will get you nine yards on third and eight, plus who knows how much else if he's able to slip a couple of tackles. You can make a pretty good career like that.

Anytime you can go up and get the ball, you are always a deep threat.

I agree with everything you posted, although it pains me to see him in Oakland.

As for his 40 time, he must not get off the blocks very well, because (as you referenced) I do not EVER recall seeing him caught from behind. Just to be clear, I do not think his stock should have fallen as far as it did... I simply was not surprised that it did.

All that said, his ability to avoid injury will have a bigger impact on his longevity in the league than his 40 time will.

The best demonstration of his open-field speed was the "Missile" play against Oregon in 2009. He never got more than five yards separation yet he outraced everyone for 70 yards. His 40 time isn't the best but he is a hard runner once he has the ball.

Great pick up for my Raiders. Criner is a perfect fit as they needed a consistent possession receiver.

Thought he would go late 3rd early/4th but I think he will end up being a productive (maybe not a star) player in the NFL.

Love Criner. Your logic is flawed though. DUCY?

EDIT to add, just so I am clear, I think Criner will have a lasting career in the league.

Its absurd how far Criner fell. And I love how Mcshay and the guys were making it sound as if Foles made Criner better. When in reality Criner made Foles better with his 50/50 (which is usually more closer to 20% for WR) jump ball catches and YAC ability.

This is true for the most part but he was given a grade of 85 overall. For the most part, he was given that grade based off his workouts, other players were drafted almost in descending order in respect to their overall grade. I was shocked that Wade was taken as late as he was and think Cleveland got a steal out of him, will he be a star? Doubtful, but I would be he would be more effective for them than Nate Ness was when they drafted him.

This. I'm a firm believer that Criner's hands and ability to get off the LOS and shake crappy PAC-12 defenders, jump balls and YAC ability all made Foles look better.

I'd be a little surprised if Wade isn't starting in the NFL at some point in the next two seasons.

So the only way to have first round talent is to be fast? He is better than most at just about everything else, and nobody is better at going up and getting the ball (which is extremely important). And its not like his speed is a weakness, or his lack of separation considering he is still going to make the catch because he knows how to use his body and arms to "shield" the defender.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 (greatest WR ever)

And a couple guys in a similar mold as Criner:
Brandon Marshall ran a 4.69 (2012 pro bowler)- Reminds me a ton of Criner
Larry Fitzgerald ran a 4.63 (2012 pro bowler)

You just compared Criner to Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald and Brandon Marshall. I like Juron, and think he will be a productive pro, but let's set realistic comparisons.
