Interesting question posed...

By USA Today's David DuPree:

"It's a three-on-three tournament and two teams are left —

Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Amare Stoudemire

are playing against

Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson.

Who wins and why?"

DWade, King James, and Amare win by forfeit when Duncan walks off the court following the Kobe/AI wrestling match to see who would take every single shot.

I had Kobe and AI killing each other...Oh well.

Seriously, I think Amare Stoudemire can score anytime he wants on anyone. It's not even fair. Add James' and Wade's unselfishness and play-making ability compared to Kobe and AI's shot-selection...I don't think it would even be close.

Duncan would do better on the boards than Amare, but after that, the Kobe/AI/Duncan team have little other advantage...

Except of course for the all-important catagories of number of coaches run out of town and number of felonies charged with. Poor Duncan. I think he would probably start to cry if he really had to be on a team with Kobe and AI.

I think Odom is on the verge of anti-depressant addiction. I watched half of the Lakers/Spurs game last night. I really feel bad for the guy. He was coming off a career year in Miami, where he appeared to have fun...now he's teamed with (only) Kobe and appears to be suicidal. What a waste...

Just to qualify my previous comment reguarding Amare's unguardability...

"The second-year phenom is 35-of-46 from the floor with 84 points in his last two games"

His last two games vs. Randolph and Garnett respectively...

Wade has like 4 inches on AI, and i know he would alter his shots. As much as i hate Kobe when he is up to it, he can play good defense and if he is guarding lebron could make lebron throw up some ugly shots, duncan is the better rebounder over amare. These guys do have 5 NBA rings together, and AI has been to the finals.

But like someone else said, the way wade and lebron play unselfishly, and the way amare seems to be unstoppable on offense. the young guys take it by 5.

He also had to endure the Olympic team experience. Maybe he and Luke can get traded to a real team.

I would probably agree with the thread consensus that the young guys win, but my caveat is that it's 3-on-3, not 5-on-5, so team defense is not as big of a factor and 1-on-1 offense can be more successful. That would seem to play into the hands of Kobe and AI. But ultimately, the dysfunctional combination of Kobe, AI, and Duncan would cause an implosion.

I would like to see this. I know it won't happen, but I think it would be an awesome part of the All-Star weekend.

I had already talked about a regional 3-on-3 as part, but maybe doing a fan, "Old School vs. New School" comp would have more impact.

Fans vote 3 players from a 10 player list. The three would play together vs, the other team. I think it would be great.

Old School team: No younger than 27 or 5 years in the League...

New School team: No older than 27 or 5 years in the league...

and no player can be taller than 7-foot...

My guess is Kobe, McGrady and Garnett vs. James, Wade, Amare...

Yeah, I'd love the Suns to nab Luke...Maybe with their newly aquired trade exemp (from the Zarko trade) and some seconds...

Agree, but neither shoot well, so I think that is the best defense. Give Kobe 2.5 feet and let him fire his shot, just make sure it's contested.
